Puppy ear infection

Our 13 week old cocker spaniel has an ear infection. We have ear drops from vets but as the days go on it's getting harder to administer them as pup is obviously in pain, she growls and snaps at us when we try to do it. We wrap her in a towel and lay her across one of our laps and the other does the drops but it's becoming very tricky! Any tips to make this easier? We have tried giving her kong/lickimat as distraction during and obviously giving lots of treats but she's on to us and knows when it's coming and runs and hides etc. Due back at vets Friday but feel like a rubbish pup owner for not being able to get this right!

We are currently administering eye and ear drops to our new rescue. When I call her at "that" time of the day, I swear she almost crawls to the kitchen. No advice (and I'm trying to manipulate at 35kg baby!) but we always end with a high value treat.
It's horrible but needs must. I hope she starts to feel better soon.
(As a PS get some Stinky Stuff for ears in. Amazing magic stuff to have if she is going to have problem ears)

Urgh eye drops too - nightmare!
Puppy has been great til now, toilet trained super quick, learning training quickly, doing socialisation, getting her used to different things etc so thought we were doing well with her but now I'm scared it's all gone out the window with her growling and snapping at us. I'm scared she's now going to be an aggressive dog and bite one of us or the children. She is normally such a sweetheart but I found it scary seeing her growling and snapping and I'm worried she's going to be like it all the time now! Sad

Hi, if she needs a continuation of treatment at next appointment ask the vet if they can treat her with Osurnia or Neptra long acting 1/2 application drops that the vet will apply.
More expensive but so much easier and reduced stress for dog Osurnia is 2 applications 1 week apart , neptra is 1 application active for 28 days.
She may be feeling some pain , same as us with an ear infection ,so when infection gone try and use a regular ear cleaner from vet , she may be more tolerant with you doing this to her ears when she experiences no pain and by keeping them clean ,less waxy ,she may be less likely to develop an infection .
Often easier said than done though , hope she's well soon .

Thank you for that suggestion. I will ask the vet about either of those on Friday. I am def going to keep on top of ear cleaning and I really hope she'll be ok with me doing this once it doesn't hurt any more! She was letting me clean them after the first 2 days on the drops so I guess they weren't hurting but now she's back to rubbing them and growling so must have got worse! She's happy in between though, running around, playing, eating and pooping fine.

It's scary seeing them growl and snap, especially when it's out of character.
She must be in pain, bless her. Hopefully the drops will start to work soon. We are on day 5 and things are improving.
Eye drops are forever though and her eyelids have the strength of 10 men. I need to change my tactics (or she needs to be less dramatic!)

Lol I can imagine clamping the eyes shut! Hopefully doggy will soon get used to it....

@tsmainsqueeze thank you so much for the osurnia suggestion. Went back to vets today and the ear infection has gone deeper into the inner ear membrane so no wonder she was so growly and snappy. I asked vet and she agreed to do osurnia as I said I was concerned I wasn't getting the ear drops in successfully and that I was going to create an aggressive association with me touching her ears and her snarling at me, we go back next week for the second dose and hopefully it helps this time!
