Dog in season, being sick

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this? It's her second season and she's about 3 days in and has been vomiting yellow bile for the last 3/4 days. Only once a day, she doesn't appear to be off her food and is going to the toilet ok.

I can only think that it's possibly her hormones, or maybe excessive cleaning?

Could be a sign her stomach is empty and she's hungry, especially if it happens first thing in the morning, in which case a small snack before bed might help.

If she's otherwise well, her temperature is normal, she's eating, drinking, pooing and weeing, I wouldn't worry too much, but if it continues for much longer, give your vet a call and have a chat

Thank you!

I've read up on it and it's actually not that unusual. The hormone surges are causing the sickness. I've given her a small biscuit the last 2 mornings and there's been no sickness.

Bless her, mine is also often sick when in season, but I always worry that it's something else and coincidental. She also needs to snuggle on your knee a lot, be stroked, and play with bubbles

happy97 · 12/05/2021 10:25

@Biddie191 She does feel ever so sorry for herself! Bubbles are a great idea. Bizarrely she's less cuddly when she's in season, takes herself off to her bed.

Logic was telling me it was because of her season but as you say, it could be a coincidence. Thank you for your reply.

Because she feels like crap. Any reason you’re putting her through this instead of having her speyed?

Mine's a Jack Russell, and she loves bubbles, she is crazy! To be fair, although she sees herself as a fierce, rugged killing machine, she is in fact a quite feeble lap dog a lot of the time Grin although she can be pretty sharp when she sees a cat (as long as it's the other side of the window) or a hockey ball.

Because she's only 18 months and all the advice I've read is to wait until she's mature. This is also the recommendation from the excellent breeder I purchased her from.

What has your vet said? Mine says after the first heat.
