Corgi as a first time dog?

Would love some opinions please.

I'm not personally fussed on a breed but do want a smaller dog so they're the right sort of size.

Just a typical family pet.

Eldest has corgi at the absolute top of her list. But I feel other breeds may be easier from thinks I've heard - DH and I have only ever had cats and smaller animals before if that makes much difference.

We would get a puppy and I am 100% for classes so that all of us and the dog learn the best way to behave with one another.

I have a year old cardigan corgi pup and he’s my first dog. They can be pretty stubborn and they’re pretty clever which isn’t always desirable because they can outwit you. My boy is an absolute delight and fits in well. He adores kids. They’re really a medium sized dog especially the cardigan which is slightly bigger than the Pembroke. Both varieties shed heavily and have a tendency to alert bark due to their history as farm dogs. But they are honestly cracking dogs.

If you do want a corgi go through the Welsh Corgi League for pembs or the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Association to find reputable breeders. Pembrokes are a favourite with puppy farmers. Most of the good cardigan breeders kept their prices the same through lockdown so anything higher than around £1500-2000 a puppy is a bit of a red flag.
