Car sickness

DDog is a Romanian refugee aged about 6 that we’ve had for 3 years.
Pre covid he travelled with us regularly in he car — short 20 min trips for walks in the countryside and longer 2 hour trips to visit family. He tolerated these journeys very well.
Since the first lockdown we’ve been shielding and our only outings have been for medical appointments. We’ve now changed to an electric car and have started to accustom DDog to short rides. Each time, without fail, he has been sick, even when taken out on an empty tummy before breakfast.
We’ve started him on Zylakene, to no effect so far.
We want to visit family etc over the summer months when everyone is vaccinated but if DDog continues to be car sick this will be a miserable experience for everyone.
Is it likely the change to electric car has affected him?
Has anyone any useful advice?
DDog is healthy and is on a Pet plan with regular check ups He was initially rather nervous but since settling with us appears confident and even fireworks don’t freak him out so we don’t think it’s straight out nerves.

Cerenia is the magic cure!

It is expensive but in my experience give it for a couple of journeys and it seems to stop travel sickness.Certainly worth a try on the longer trips

You get it from the vet.

People do recommend ginger, sitting on newspaper(!) etc changing position in the car using human travel sickness tablets but you can spend time and money finding these dont work.

Thank you so much for your advice Polly. We’ll go right to the Cerenia.
