Poodle appreciation

Just wanting to see if there are any other poodle lovers out there who feel like sharing my enthusiasm for this breed?!

I bought a mini poodle 3 years ago knowing that they were an intelligent dog and wanting something fairly easy to train never having had a dog before.

Well she didn't disappoint in the intelligence part but I never expected her to be so funny, so athletic or so loving!

She's such a little clown, loves showing off, literally dances around! Can run so fast and keeps up with us even on long walks over any terrain, loves every second. People are always so surprised when they ask her breed (I don't have her clipped like a traditional poodle) and say they never expected her to run like she does or to be such good fun.

Anyone else got a plain old poodle not a doodle?! Would love to hear about yours! Smile🐾

If they own both parents definitely run the inbreeding co- efficient on the KC website. The chances are much higher than if they’d used a stud dog from another line.

I agree having one ready so quickly is a red flag, especially with puppies being so desirable atm. What sort of price are they asking?

Love this thread!

I have a nearly 3 year old apricot toy poodle and he is amazing. Very affectionate and just wants to be cuddled, makes the sweetest little noises and loves us all. Loves to run for his ball and is very fast! He can be a bit hysterical and squeal when excited, but calms down quickly. He isn’t a nervous dog and he’s very bright. He can be a bit incontinent though, but only with me... if I’ve been away for a couple of days and I come back he does a little excited wee so I have to be careful!

He has a traditional poodle cut as I don’t want him to be mistaken for a cockapoo or anything like that.

His big brother is an 11 year old yorkie and they are a perfect pair.

This was my mini yesterday. I left him with my youngest to get herself dressed as she gets sensory overload and so hates getting dressed. Two minutes later I came back and he's quietly wearing her pants and t shirt. He is such a tolerant dog.

He's helped hugely with her as she can be very stressed and loud with it. He always goes straight over to comfort her when she's having a meltdown. It's just how he is. If she hurts herself too he's straight there to check on her and cheer her up.

@bluebluezoo - she's asking £1,500, said she's not changed her prices since "things went silly".

Apparently all but this girl and one boy are going to people who show dogs, but this one the couple she was supposed to be selling her too seemed unable to cope with a puppy. (The boy is being collected this week)

(I contacted her via champdogs as she's very local to me, dh has discovered she's a judge on lots of show dog events in our county, not sure if that's a good sign or not!)

We always had poodles growing up. I had planned to get a poodle puppy when I retire (in about 3 years time I hope). I have just googled puppies and can’t believe that they are asking nearly £4K in some instances

Wow can't believe the prices! We paid £800 for ours but that was a few years ago.

@MissShapesMissStakes it's lovely tray your boy is so helpful and tolerant with your daughter
