Where does ddog sleep on holidays?

We are currently staying in a lodge type place. 3 bedrooms around a living area/kitchen.

Ddog is usually so easy at night time. He just sleeps in his bed downstairs. No trouble at all.

Now he's a pain in the arse! He goes to sleep in his bed still in the living area, but then will wander throughout the night trying out bed out, and my two kids' beds. My youngest is an awful sleeper and once she's awake that's me getting no sleep again.

We've tried shutting doors but he scratches on them and they aren't our doors so we can't do that. We've tried his bed in with us. But he won't settle in it and just carries on with musical beds.

For this holiday I'm thinking we are doomed sleep-wise. But next time? Any suggestions? I'm happy for him to sleep on a bed with a child but he just fidgets and wakes them up swapping beds etc.

We take bedding with us and pop it over the top of the bedding provided, strip at departure. Ddog is probably confused which is why they aren't settling like they do at home 🐾❤️🐾

We take our bed with us. At night we shut him in a different room. He will settle quite quick. He is used to sleeping away from us however and has always slept in a different (closed door) room except when a tiny puppy

Thanks both. We have brought his bed, an she is used to sleeping alone with the door shut. He would be fine to sleep on our bed too. But it's like he wants to make sure he has a turn on everyone's bed, and he just moved from bed to bed after after a few hour sleep.

Our Ddog usually sleeps in our room, starts off on the bed then moves to his bed (still in out room) so we take a throw for our bed and his bed and he just does the same on holiday. I dont know what I would suggest in your case he is obviously confused and unsettled by the new layout and doesn't really know where his place is. Could you leave all the doors open apart from your light sleeping child's and hope that because he can move around the other rooms he won't scratch at their door.

He is in a strange place and probably wants to check where you all are. Is he crate trained? Might be an idea for the next holiday to get him a crate and pop it in your room. So he feels more secure.

The dogs are used to sleeping on their bed in the corner of our bedroom. We take the dog bed and a portable extending stair gate with us and attempt a similar set up. (This usually involves a corner , bungee cord thing and a little wedging with open drawers etc but we usually manage it somehow! ) Stair gate needed to prevent a visit on our bed of course 🙄.

Thanks again.

He's slept half the day quite happily in his own bed from home which he loves. It's just at night.

I'll try shutting dd's door and leaving all the others open. Hadn't really tried that as she hates being shut off but I can do it after she's asleep.

He's not crate trained, which would have been useful!
