Lurcher’s prey drive through the roof after being in season.

1 yr old lurcher, she was in season at the end of February, was a nightmare throughout (very dramatic and noisy).
I suspect she’s having a phantom pregnancy, as she’s digging up cushions, blankets and duvets.
Her prey drive has gone ridiculously high, to the point where she ended up on our neighbour’s garage roof trying to get to a pigeon!

In other ways she’s very good, recall is generally good, she’s easy to train and very keen to please.

She has always got on with our cat, but right now he needs safe places upstairs as she’s too boisterous with him and tries to chase him.

Has anyone had experience of this? Will it calm down again?

She is going to be spayed in the next 3 months.

It may not be season related.

This time of year is a nightmare for scents - my beagle disappeared off in the woods last weekend after a deer and I have to be so so careful that he doesn't run off on our walks.

It's the season for new babies, plants growing, animals coming out of hibernation etc. It's very difficult to control scent-driven dogs when the weather is like this!

I'm sorry but the pigeon tickled me Grin

No advise about seasons I'm afraid but do agree with @sunflowersandbuttercups, our lurcher gets very spring-y and this morning we just agreed to switch up our walks as he's starting to show signs of going deaf to recall in the woods.

Thank you!
It never occurred to me that this could just be a scents thing!

Going to shuffle things around in the garden to prevent her getting on the roof (handy ferret hutch) and generally watch her more closely.

Yeah, at this time of year you do have to be really careful, though my beagle has never managed to get on a roof Grin

Last year though, he did get into next doors' garden and helped himself to some toast from the kitchen sides. Luckily next door is DH's cousin and he thought it was very amusing Blush

The fence between us has now been heightened by a foot!

The roof was a bit of a shock!
