Lab puppy not that bothered about food

Our pup is now 5 months and never really has been that food orientated. I sit with her sometimes to encourage her to eat, she is putting on weight nicely and has no signs of S&D. Is a low appetite like this normal? Has other lab owners known this? She is quite a chilled pup anyway and she has always been like this but I just want to make sure I am not missing anything......

We had this. I remember the vet trying and failing to tempt DPup with a treat and asking me, ‘Are you sure he’s a Labrador?’ I used to have to hand-feed him kibble piece by piece etc.

We moved from kibble to grain-free wet food and he took to it like a champ. He’s five years old now and we have to be super vigilant about food as he’s eaten everything up to and including the Christmas turkey. Definitely grew out of it!!

Gorgeous pup by the way Smile

@toffeebutterpopcorn umm no... she likes to be with us but say we have dinner, she comes up with a toy then goes off to lay on her mat. She wouldnt be bothered by us eating on the sofa really.

One of ours (a spaniel not a lab) came to associate breakfast with everyone leaving for a while! He wasn't keen on it.

He was very happy to eat if everyone else was eating though. It was clearly a social activity to him. We had to have our bowls of cereal together :)

More pictures please. There is a home for them here.
My lovely lab (almost 15) died on Sunday .

It might change when you get her spayed. Our skinny cat who was wholly uninterested in food before is now a little chunk who scrabbles at the kitchen cabinets when we are making lunch.

My female is like that. Breakfast has little interest for her. She likes to go out, pee, poop, run around etc and work up an appetite. Unfortunately my male is a greedy lab so we have to stay close by while she eats or he will help her out.
For training she likes primula cheese , but a ball is far more interesting.
She’s 5 now and in good shape

This is so cute, I'm loving the image of you both eating together.

My spaniel isn't mad on her kibble but the vet wants her to get to a year before we try her on different food. We usually mix in a wee bit of Primula or peanut butter to encourage her. I've got sort of dog gravy granules recently (called Barker and Barker I think) that you sprinkle over. It must give it more flavour cos she's been eating all her kibble since I tried it. She never refuses treats though!

My lab cross used to leave her food when she was a puppy.... she eats anything now!

My SIL puppy would only eat his food if she grated Parmesan on it !
When he was very young it had to be softened with warm water at exactly the right temperature. Not sure he is a real lab either!
