Should my older dog still have his annual booster?

It's all booked tomorrow for 12 year old dog. A couple of my work colleagues said you shouldn't give it to them after a certain age as they should be covered?
I'm not sure what to do now? Any advice please? Thanks x

I feel similarly. Especially as he's not going into kennels, doesn't seem much point. He's thoroughly vaccinated already! 🤣

You need to consider the leptospirosis risk in your area as we know this particular vaccine does not provide good lifelong cover - at most 15 months protection.
Whilst this is a bacterial disease and does respond to antibiotics, however, very young and very old are more likely to develop life threatening and life changing illness.

You can titre test for everything apart from Lepto for added reassurance.

Yep. What lonecat said Most vets only do a full booster every 3 years with lepto and parainfluenza boosters annually

One more thing to consider is the annual check element.

I've picked up dental disease, heart disease, splenic tumours, arthritis etc through that annual exam so in an older dog regular checks are definitely worth it

Thank you for coming back to me. I just don't want to put any pressure on his system but also don't want to put him at risk. He had a health check last weekend the vet said he is in great health and that's what triggered that he needed his vaccination!
