Anyone want to guess what my dog is made of?

We have a gorgeous new rescue girl but we don't know anything about her or her previous life except that she's an oldie.

Anyone want to guess what she's possibly made up from? Her head is very Jack Russell like and quite small compared to the rest of her body which is very fluffy with thick fur and a big bushy tail. She's gorgeous and very intelligent with sweet little dainty paws.

So, any guesses on her crossbreed or mongrel ancestry?

Lots of photos below so you can all love her as much as I do Grin

@RandomMess

How heavy is she and roughly where do you live? Reminds my of a dog I know!
She was 20kg when we got her but probably a bit heavier now as she's eating well and we're in the South West, I'd guess nowhere near where that lovely snow is in your photograph!

The lovely dog in your photo looks similar but more smooth coated, is it a JR mix (too)?

She is most definitely, 100% floof 😍

RandomMess · 06/02/2021 17:56

That dog is in Hampshire and weighs 30kgs they know the parentage was 2 mixed breeds anyway one was 10kg one 15kg 😳 they were not expecting a 30kg dog!!!

Actually he has a much bigger chest and small rear than yours.

Jack Russell Terriers are generally a bit of a mix anyway??? Not many come from a pedigree line and the colouring etc seems to be quite dominant/be there in many older breeds history anyway I think.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 06/02/2021 18:11

Is she a UK rescue?

She reminds strongly of a dog I knew who was 1/2 JRT and 1/2 collie. If she's from overseas, I'd have no idea.

she stubbornly flops to the ground like a complete diva, so I have to wait a few minutes until she forgets why she wanted to sniff in the other direction and can be cajoled (bribed) back onto her feet

Ha, ha - she's a Mediterranean dog! Mine used to do this a lot (Greek dogs are always lying flat out on roads when they feel like it). As she got older and things were an effort and she fancied a little rest, she would just lie down on the pavement, while I had to stand by like a lemon until she felt she might get up and continue. People frequently slowed their cars down and called out to ask if I needed to get her to a vets!!! One lady befriended me and told me she'd previously seen my dog lying down in the pub car park and thought she had died and worried for days! As your dog looks so very much like mine, I should also warn you that I used to (when dog theft not so rampant) tie her up on a long line on the communal lawn 9she was a great sunbather), visible from my living room window, and often see my neighbours in my cul-de-sac of flats, divert from the pavement in order to cross the lawn and talk to and stroke my dog. One day, the local drug dealer was also out there kneeling beside her and giving her a hug (he sometimes gave her dog chews too). Dogs like mine (and yours) get a huge following.

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork 😀 yes, a few days ago we "disagreed" as she wanted to cross the road and I wanted to keep to the side we were on so "flop" she went...it was the longest five minutes of my life as I stood there trying to get her to follow me. It was peeing down with rain and I felt so self conscious as cars were passing and I was trying to pretend this was perfectly normal behaviour; eventually I scooped her up and carried her for about 10ft feet and put her down again and then we carried on but I did curtail the walk. I'm trying not to make a habit of carrying her as I fear she enjoys it too much! She doesn't struggle, I think she likes it 😀 Luckily, she hasn't done it for a couple of days so I'm hoping she's getting used to the routine now. She's been with us for two weeks and she's definitely more settled.

Is she Greek? Kokoni mix something much bigger?

Wow! Very similar looking dogs, this is all adding to the intrigue, thank you very much, although my little one weighs nearly twice as much she may just have a bit of Kokoni heritage, she has the thick floof, the tail, the ears, the character...exciting!

Just to add, if you get a DNA test done, none of the main ones like wisdom panel etc test for kokoni, so it might always be the ‘missing’ bit, just to add to the intrigue!

Funf · 09/02/2021 13:13

You will be no better off for knowing as long as she is happy nothing else matters

Coffeecreativity · 10/02/2021 14:51

@RealisticSketch

I can imagine a farm where the collie and JR shared a roll in the hay. Grin
