Isolating due to positive covid result- how to manage puppy?

We have a 8mo toy poodle pup. He's an energetic demanding young man who likes 2 short walks or 1 longish one a day.

We've just had a positive Covid result for DD6. Trying to think ahead if all of us get it but in any event we won't be able to take pup out on his walks. Has anyone any suggestions for managing him during this time? We have a garden which he can run round in but he usually just runs round a bit barking at birds Hmm. Any ideas to wear him out? He has licky mat and also a Kong which ,he's not interested in. I sometimes hide treats in toilet roll tubes for him to sniff out but that game doesn't last long. Has anyone any good ideas?

Many thanks.

Are you able to afford a professional dog walker?

This is a great opportunity to crack on with some training - teaching ridiculous tricks of no practical use in particular Wink Mine learned things like how to do a figure of 8 through my legs on a snow day (he hates the snow), for instance.

You could even try to teach some heelwork to music (aka doggy dancing)

It's all just interactive brain games for the dog!

Will he fetch a ball? If he will then throw the ball in the garden. Hide kibble or small treats around the room for him to find. Do some brain training or work on a new "trick", this wears puppies out more than physical work. I hope your dd isn't feeling too poorly.

Professional dog walkers can take dogs from positive households but I will say that many are choosing not to. And not all dogs will go off with a complete stranger either.

I'm a walker and I did walk a dog from a positive household a couple of weeks ago - we had to do contactless handovers, we both wore masks and I used my own lead and just clipped it on to the dogs harness (which the owner put on for me wearing gloves).
