Poisonous plants

We have a brand new puppy. She’s adorable but I am driving myself mad checking which plants could be poisonous. Pretty much everything I search comes up as potentially poisonous on some lists but left off others!

Rationally I’m sure most things are fine-we’ve had a dog before (not from a puppy) and several dogs visiting the garden and none have come to harm but she does like to sniff plants and pick up leaves.

My main concerns are:
Laurel hedge including the dried leaves that are on the ground- we have a lot of this and she likes picking up the leaves
Box bushes-she’s had a kick/nibble of these
Angel wings plant-conflicting advice
Chinese lantern (she is very drawn to these!)
Yew-I know this is a very bad one. It’s only in the front garden so should be fine keeping her away from this

I know I should discourage her from eating any plants but I don’t want to be constantly fussing at her or trying to take leaves out of her mouth unless it’s urgent-I want her to be able to explore.

Any advice on the above or any other common culprits? We have quite a few plants I don’t recognise!

I have poisonous plants in my garden. As a puppy I just supervised or blocked off certain plant areas. I found once you are out of that manic must put everything thing in his mouth stage he simply ignored the plants and chewed the grass (I am a rubbish at weeding) around them.

When I looked if I removed all the poisonous plants I would have had a very bare garden.

@Peetaly When we first got our pup, I was always very anxious about plants and what he could/couldn't go near. He ate one plant and I was in panic mode as I'd googled it and they said it could be toxic! However, he was absolutely fine Smile I've found the more you make a fuss or tell them 'no', the more drawn they are to said plants/sticks/stones or whatever else it is you want them to avoid.

Ours is fine now but has a fascination with empty snail shells!

Yes I can see I’m being a bit paranoid about it. I’m sure I’ll relax soon 😬 it’s just a big responsibility isn’t it!
Tbh I’ve barely been in the garden all winter so it’s given me a good reason to tidy it all up a bit.

Try not to be paranoid & let it spoil your enjoyment of the puppy stage. You may find these helpful.

Thank you- the dogs trust one seems pretty comprehensive. I’ve printed it out.
The angel wings one is listed on that as potentially fatal so I’ll transfer that to the front garden.
A bit ironic really as I planted in in memory of our old dog!
