Patella luxation in bigger breeds..experiences?

My girl is a 23kg , 19m old.
Last summer she had a crash into another dog while playing and hurt her leg. Xrays at the time revealed nothing terrible and it improved. However she is now having problems as the patella is luxating when she's running at full pelt and does quick turns. She yelps, sits with leg up for a minute or two then gets back up and goes again, though sometimes a bit tentatively. The vet doesn't feel she needs the op yet, but can be managed. Obviously I don't want to put her through an unpleasant operation and tedious recovery before time, but it's 'gone' twice in the lst few days and is obviously going to impact her fun..she's a very active dog, lives to hunt for bunnies and play. It never happens 'just wlking' thankfully (as yet) only when she is basically going all out and dashing in all directions.
I like and trust my vet but am struggling to figure out whether low grade luxation (as it seems to be but it obviously hurts!) is manageable or whether we should be pushing for treatment now as most info I can find seems to be about little dogs.
Any vets or those who have experienced this , please advise me! He did say he was happy to refer us on to an orthopaedic specialist when needed. I just don't know 'how often is too often' if that makes sense!

No medic so only talking from ancedotal point of view.

I would not call it low grade if the knee cap is popping out of joint which it seems to be doing.

I would go back to your vet - physio can help delay things but I understand that if the knee is popping out it can damage the cartilage and that in itself can lead to osteoarthritis.

I would really be asking about physio to start with building up muscle around the knee etc can help a lot.

this may help

Twice in the space of a few days?
And only 19 months old?
I’d be wanting the operation definitely

Also, this is the eurasier that can be a bit funny with other dogs?
I’d be worried about her maybe play bowing and running with another dog, the knee popping and her associating the pain with other dogs

Seekingasaintmaybe Yes it is she. She has got much better post spay (definitely the right move for her) but she is still selective about who she likes, and yes I'm worried she will associate others with pain if it keeps happening because she does love to play with most friendly dogs.
I'm conflicted because the vet thinks an op is not necessary (yet) but after months of no trouble it's suddenly popped few times.

I think I'm going to keep her walks low key for couple of weeks and monitor but if it does it more than once I'll ask for a referral to an ortho specialist.
