Anyone else has fussy pup?

Our pup is so fussy with food. The only thing he will eat is chicken. I've tried different brands of kibble but he will only occasionally eat it. I went to pets at home and after asking for advice came away with Natures Menu Raw food. Has anyone tried this?

Have you tried soaking his kibble in boiled water (and letting it cool down) before giving it him?

My puppy was like this, he prefers wet food and likes Butchers tripe in the tins, hAve you tried wet food?

We have a fussy pup. Have tried so many different types of food. Finally settled on a wet food she loves with a handful of posh kibble mixed in. Took a lot of failed attempts to find it though. All the food she didn't eat we donated to the local dog rescue.

My 0 month old pup is a nightmare. The amount I've spent on food- is beyond a joke. She will eat the food from taiis, with some Naruro wet food mixed in. What breed is your lovely pup?

Ours was really fussy when he was younger and we used to cook a roast chicken(for us!) then boil the carcass in water, strain it and use that water on his kibble.

That finally clicked with him for kibble and now we just soften it with water

A lot of them are terrors with food when they are young. I would say we've only got into a good food routine now at 5 months so don't feel alone!

I think kibble on its own is an incredibly dull diet for dogs - they're designed to eat raw meat - why would they want to live off dry biscuits?

We don't have the storage space to feed raw so we feed a mixture of wet food and kibble. I always mix them together in his bowl before feeding so he doesn't have to eat dry biscuits on their own.

I also wouldn't go down the road of giving him human food - if he knows he can refuse kibble and get fresh chicken, then that's what he'll do (we've been there!). Instead, pick a food that you want him to eat and put him into a routine. He gets fed 2-3 times a day at set times. Food gets put down and left for 20 minutes. If he doesn't eat, remove the bowl and then he gets nothing else until the following meal time. Don't pander to fussiness.

We went through this with our very food-orientated beagle - he held out and would get treats or better food because we were so worried about him not eating. It took about two mealtimes of doing the above routine for him to eat his food and we've never had a problem since.

Yes have a fussy one. I dont think he would eat at all tbh if I just gave him kibble, won't even entertain that. Finally found he loves Lilys kitchen and even then only a couple of varieties. Thinking of trialling butternut boxes in the new year

All the food she didn't eat we donated to the local dog rescue
Glad this has been mentioned, didn't think of this. Ive quite a bit now of different brands he wont eat and didn't feel right chucking it away. Will take it up to the animal rescue.

@XiCi I would contact the rescue before taking it to check that they accept it. A lot of rescues don't chop and change what kibble they give the dogs so that they don't get upset stomachs.

Some homeless charities take dog kibble, as do some wildlife rehabilitation centres (for badgers etc.).

Thanks happenchance I will do
