Can an elderly dog develop a food allergy?

Just wondering if that is what is causing her poos to be more sloppy and smelly. She also smells through her pores. Last time she smelt through her pores and had sloppy poos, we thought her dog food ingredients had changed, and we moved her on to a cold pressed dog food. That's been great for her for a few years but now we've got this going on again.

Could it be the food again? She doesn't seem ill in herself. I'd like to try her in a different food to eliminate if it is her food but don't know where to go from cold pressed. Any suggestions? Has anyone's dog been like this?

I think it is possible. Their tums are often more sensitive. Have you tried grain free food? I get dry and wet grain free food online and mix together (I get James Wellbeloved).

I changed to grain free because of intermittent sloppy poos. I had my dog on high quality wet food (high meat content). Vet pointed out that my dog could be allergic to one or more of the actyal meats and best to just go onto grain free as most digestible.

actual not actyal!

My dog is 17 and over the last couple of years his stomach has become much less tolerant. He can't cope with gravy-type wetness, his kibble is grain-free, and chewy biscuits come straight back. It's trial and error to a certain degree, you just have to follow their lead.

Forgot to say, our vet told us that pure-meat/top quality stuff can sometimes be too protein-heavy as they get older. Ours has 2 tins of bog standard jelly-based tins per day to keep his weight up (as well as access to kibble through the day).

Thanks I will pick up some small packs of different food too try. She's on markus muhle cold pressed and used to be on burns lamb and rice. Ill look for a grain free food recommended for sight hounds. She's 11 or 12.
