Breeding for the money, what are the cons?

A friend of mine is going to breed from her cockapoo. She's just had her second season and they're planning on mating her during her next. Tell me why it's a bad idea please.

Her dog could die in labour.

Depending on her age during her second season she could be too young to be bred. Most good breeders wait until at least 3 so that the dogs matured and can handle looking after a litter of puppies.

Seeing as she wants to make a quick buck then I doubt she will fall under the category of good breeder. Is she going to health test? Even though the puppies will be cross breds like she is they are still susceptible to genetic disorders.

Cons; the mother can die during birth, a breeder in my breed recently lost her girl during an emergency c section. She was devastated, she had to raise a litter of 10 by hand. She's mentally and physically exhausted.

Is your friend prepared for the cost of a c section? The time and effort to properly raise a litter? Finding good homes? As it's likely the demand and crazy prices will have decreased by then.

What research has your friend done?

I wouldn't be trying to tell her why this is an irresponsible, unethical, idiotic idea. She won't listen.

But I would be asking a LOT of faux-innocent questions in the hope of getting her to look into it properly for herself. Things like, 'Gosh how exciting, you're so brave, I could never cope with raising a litter of puppies myself. I heard of somebody once whose dog wouldn't feed the puppies and they had to hand rear eight puppies, they literally didn't sleep for WEEKS! And their insurance didn't cover any of the vet bills either. I can't even imagine how much stress it is trying to find good families and socialise the puppies with the virus situation, you're so much braver than me.'

My friend's girlfriend had a litter from her dalmatian. The birth was long and the vet came out twice in the middle of the night to great expense. She had 7 pups. The next morning she invited her young neices to quietly look at the puppies and the mother started to eat her babies. My friend said it was horrific. Before they could stop her she ate three pups.
The dalmatian was never the same after giving birth. She became dog aggressive and leaked urine. Poor girl, totally unnecessary.
