Cleany teeth

I was thinking about buying an electric toothbrush to do my dog’s teeth. He lets me do his teeth. Although he spends most of the time licking the toothpaste off his teeth while I’m brushing. 🙄 I’ve noticed a little bit of plaque right at the top of his canine teeth. I’ve spent more time brushing the area, but it is still a bit yellow. I’ve just seen an ad for cleany teeth. Has anyone bought this for their dog? It seems very expensive, but if it works, I’d consider buying one. Hopefully I can find a discount code for one first!

Hmm. Can't imagine many dogs being happy with something buzzing inside their mouth.

Looking at the reviews it seems like it's just a human type electric toothbrush that's been amended slightly so it works for dogs.

Maybe just try out your own electric toothbrush, obviously with a different head, on the dog before spending a lot of money on something you might not end up getting much use out of.

That’s what I thought. I can’t understand why it is so expensive. I don’t have an electric toothbrush, so I might treat myself to one and buy an extra head for him.

If it’s just a bit of plaque, I would start giving your dog Plaque Off. It’s essentially a seaweed supplement, but it changes the oral environment so that plaque remains softer and easier to remove. I was a bit averse to adding something to my dog’s diet to help his teeth, but it’s worked really well for him.

If not, as your dog doesn’t mind you doing his teeth, see if you can get a thumbnail under the edge of the plaque desposits and flick them off. My vet showed me how to do this years ago and it’s really easy once you get the hang of it.

I can’t scrape it off with my nail, so I’m going to buy some plaque off, thanks @PermanentlyDizzy. Hopefully it will help to soften it then I can brush it off.

If you can't scrap it off it's tartar and Plaque off ( or anything similar) will not remove it.

It seems to be coming off slowly @Lonecatwithkitten. He is booked in for an annual health check in a few weeks, so I will ask the vet to take a look if it hasn’t gone by then.
