Would you want a doormat with your dog on it?

I’m completely stuck for a Christmas present for my sister and her DP and I thought about a personalised doormat of their dog, but then I thought would they want to use it

Good idea or not?

I would have one at the back door, which is where they generally come in & out, but not the front.

I have my fair share of dog themed items , some I bought, some were gifts, but I tend to keep them were only DH & I see them.

Svelteinmydreams · 13/11/2020 17:50

Oh one thing I did get for DH is a paw print kit - you know like kids hand prints in clay- only for dogs. It was a bit of a joke but he will like it, I think. He’s a sucker for his girl...

RaspAsYouChokeOnTheToupee · 13/11/2020 17:50

Probably not. If given one, I’d keep it at the back door, which is where it will quickly get covered in mud from the dogs and generally get quite grotty.

mrsjackrussell · 13/11/2020 17:51

It depends on the person but I think it's a lovely gift.

LightDrizzle · 13/11/2020 17:57

Nice thought but personally I’d dislike it and stress about having to use it because you’d notice if it wasn’t there.
Is she the type to wear jumpers with her breed or dog on them and mugs and the like?
I loved all my dogs but didn’t go in for dog themed clothes/decor/crockery, and I’m quite picky about what goes in my house.

DotTheCaddy · 13/11/2020 18:27

It's a bit cheesy but also sweet. I'd probably use it for the back door where the dog comes in and out.

Theres a nice one on Etsy with two hearts and a paw print on, with the couples and dogs names underneath.

MrsJunglelow · 13/11/2020 20:51

Silly really but I’d hate it myself because I assume by ‘doormat’ you mean an outside one that people wipe their feet on?
I wouldn’t like the thought of scraping my feet and smushing dirt into a depiction of my dogs face.

Thank you for your help folks 😊

I probably should have said, it’d be for a static caravan

Only a ‘part’ present so yes?

Yes!

It would be more welcome at the static caravan (assuming I didn’t rent it out) than in my actual home. So maybe.

I don’t necessarily object to it being a whole or part of a present but I’m quite particular about personalised stuff. Also stuff that goes on display. I’ve got a ‘godmother’ thing given to me. The person who gave it to me has been to my house once but I still feel like I have to display it, even though I really don’t want to. I’m currently planning that it gets lost when we do the kitchen but as we have no immediate plans to do the kitchen, I might have to use the dogs ate it excuse! I don’t necessarily mind personalised gifts but not the expectation they have to be displayed. So for me personalised gifts are better as key rings, mugs or books.

GreyishDays · 13/11/2020 22:11

My first thought is that dog thieves would then know what sort of dog is in there, but I might be being a bit ridiculous with that.

TeapotCollection · 14/11/2020 09:37

Not ridiculous Grey unfortunately

I think I’m going to get one, if they don’t want it getting dirty they could always put it at the entrance to their conservatory
