Runt of the litter

Hi there, we've been on our breeders list for a long time & we're collecting our pup in a couple of days. We had requested a girl & ours is the only girl of the litter of 3.
When she arrived she couldn't latch on properly for her feed, the breeder said herself & the vet had to do so much in the first 48 hours to keep her hydrated & the vet gave her a clear bill of health. She's a bit smaller than her brothers but very lively & playful. The breeder said she's always had extra cuddles & tlc due to her rough start. Has anyone else got the litter runt? We're so excited & she'll be extra spoilt in this house!

That's great to hear Today, what breed is yours? I wonder is our the runt as girls are generally smaller but the breeder said no usually as tiny pups they're similar sized. She was most concerned about our girl having trouble initially latching on to the mom... Your girl sounds great!

We had the runt once too. Came to us with kennel cough, a nasty wound on his back and generally not in brilliant condition. On paper we should never have brought him home. Without question he was the best dog of my childhood. Huge personality, confident, great fun and extraordinarily loyal. He slept through the first night without a whimper too... I really loved that dog!

Good luck.

I should add that our next dog - pick of the litter, great pedigree, same breed - was very nervy. Much loved but not a patch on the runt in terms of temperament.

I had the runt of the litter border collie years ago. the farmer gave me him for nothing as he couldnt sell him.
I called him Bruce as in down under - well it made sense to me Smile

he was a brilliant dog no health issues, super to train and lived a long time

She is amazing! We very lucky she is a dream at home (everyone said she’d be bonkers) Joy to walk - people love watching her leaping of the ground. Being a little smaller works perfectly for us as well :)

Husband and I both say she has changed our life.

We got the runt of the litter. A very petite Scottish Terrier who outlived her bigger brothers and sister by years.
She was a fiesty wee bugger but had a loving heart as big as a house.

Thanks Potion, loving all these positive outcomes. Our girl is absolutely gorgeous & so friendly. The breeder said she's been getting extra snuggles from day 1 & is handled even more than her brothers who were also very friendly. Can't wait to get her at the weekend!
