Puppy bites

Hi, my lovely (usually) puppy bites a lot. She's four month old Jack Russell. She's clearly a bright dog (she can sit, and leave on command, apart from when she's hanging off DDs trousers) and apart from this problem, is doing great.

We are experienced dog owners, but usually adopt older rescue dogs, so she's out first puppy.

When she bites, it's usually " things" not people, though she has bitten (adult) DD and her partner.

Is this normal at her age, or should we be concerned?

You need to teach your puppy bite inhibition. It’s an important part of a puppy’s socialisation in the early days. Worth googling

Can't remember what age but our Ddog was much older than 4 months before he stopped biting/mouthing.
We used to try and have a toy in our hand to redirect/distract him.
For us yelling when he bit didn't work, it just wound him up further.
It's not aggressive, it's just his way of exploring his world.

This is so normal for puppies. They don’t know it’s bad, they just know it feels good on their little teeth. Definitely carry around toys you can swap for objects/clothing/limbs they shouldn’t be chewing on.

This is worth a watch:
