Elimination diet

Has anyone been through an elimination diet for their dog and had success? I really need help with exactly what to feed.

DDog (labrador, 14 months) has been vomiting since March. The vet has scanned her thoroughly with a specialist coming in to make sure, plus another specialist endoscopy and biopsies. These showed some moderate gastric oedema, helicobacter (which has been treated) but nothing else. No structural cause.

We've had her on a hypoallergenic diet for six months, came off it to see what happens and she's back to vomiting again.

So...next step is to try an elimination diet, one protein at a time. Can anyone recommend specific foods? I'm open to trying raw if that's easier to get in single protein source. I'm thinking chicken and poultry generally would be last to reintroduce as they are in the current food which is causing issues.

Oh, we are also planning to add prebiotic and probiotics.

If you go onto zooplus there are some fancy foods that are labelled as specifically single protein :) I did this when Dcat was with us.

I found raw easiest. I didn't go through such a process, but when trying to choose a better food for my poorly puppy raw seemed like the obvious choice. It's so simple in comparison with other elimination diets.

You really do need medical advice to do this successfully and safely. Can you ask you vet to refer you for help?

A similar thing happened with my dog. We paid for her to have a food allergy test, it was about 11 years ago but I'm fairly certain it was a blood test. This showed us she was allergic to every meat except pork, duck, fish. She can not have any eggs, cheese either. She is ok with carbs and veggies/fruit.
It was difficult to find food for her at the time, now there is so much more choice and even a wide selection of treats for her. Good luck x

I have not done a full elimination diet but mine is ok with fish and chicken. I would not feed raw.

My dog had started to throw up, also had issues with diarrhea and bloating.

After elimination (but had a strong suspicion), discovered it was rice. He is so much happier since we've stopped any meals with rice. We thought he was getting fat due to stomach size, but it was bloatiness.

Vet said it was rare and normally rice is what helps dogs with sickness, but not totally unheard of.
