I’m so desperate for a golden retriever. We had one growing up and I adore the breed.

Dh says no. He just said we can’t afford one (we can, he earns well but we spend a lot on crap!).

I feel like a broody and can’t think of anything else.

We have 3dc who are 13, 11 and 4. I’m a housewife at home all day and I’m bloody lonely and fed up.

I feel so sad. And everytime I mention a pup
He rolls his eyes.

Well today I spoke to a breeder and she has a litter due in December. I can’t talk to dh because he gets pissed off.

I don’t know what to do :(

Maybe you could try fostering? I don't know if the 4 year old would put the kibosh on that, but this way you can try having a dog, the dog isn't permanent and you get to help out a rescue.

I had a dog hating DH, but he agreed to let me foster, and within 24 hours was referring to the foster dog as his princess Grin, unsurprisingly, she ended up staying.

Has your husband always been against having a dog?
It's really a binary situation where there is little element of compromise unfortunately but I think more fundamental issues in your relationship and communication needs to be addressed as well at the "dog" issue.

How about a rescue dog or a smaller breed. We've had both and although they can be hard work the benefits easily outweigh the time consuming aspects of a dog.I've always sat on the fence about having dogs but always give in because my wife loves them. We've had a brown lab rescue dog that was well a bit dominant in our house with the barking and sheer size but he was extremely lovable. But getting out and meeting people whilst walking your dog and just the excuse to get out into the near by green walking areas can combat lonliness .My wife wants a pug next which although I was not keen I have grown to love all our dogs so although they are prone to problems with eyes, vet bills I'm quite looking forward to him now.Anyway just thought something smaller might steer your DH to the idea.
