Floor mats

Just got a dog and a garden, now it's wet, can't believe the amount of dirt brought in on the dogs paws.

I've standard door mats, which are useless at absorbing paw dirt. Don't really know what to do. Looking for advice and recommendations please on how you manage this without having you're mop and bucket to hand throughout the day. It's driving me mad!!!
Thanks

Turtle mat! You can even put it into the dryer.

A gadget and a mat, perfect! Thanks both, I'll have a look. Smile

Yep, you want a Turtle or a Dirt Trapper mat. These mittens are handy as well for drying mucky paws.

turtle mat. They soak up the water form their feet.
Get one that is twice as long as you think (less dorrmat, more hall runner)
train your dog to come in and then wait on the mat until you say he can go., Standing for a few minutes will get rid of the worst of the water.

When you cmoe in from a walk, have a towel ready. Mine loves getting wrapped in the towel and rubbed down. From about October until March I often begin by hosing him down after a walk, and then wrapping him in a towel. (he does love a good muddy walk.

But for nipping out for a wee, the turtle mat and pausing as you come in is enough

My dog would hate that thing to put their feet in. On holiday I used a bucket, and he really didn't like putting his paws in it.

Thank you stepmum and others, really good advice. Smile

Your post reminded me that we need a new mat.

I happened to go past Dunelm this afternoon and bought one in there, same as a turtle mat, called a Marvel mat. Realy good value, biggest one is 80cm x 150 and was £30.
Turtle mat the same size is £50 and homehug one up thread is about £70 for the same size.
Not a great choice of colours/designs though

I got a couple of those Dunelm ones just before lockdown.
I can't compare to Turtle mats (which my carpet guy recommended) but I've not been impressed. They certainly don't stop the water being brought in, and having cut them to size then then shrank in the wash.
Might have to revisit Turtle mats.

I bought some magic mats they go in washer.

I bought one of the Dunelm mats a couple of months ago and it’s still shedding masses of dark fluff all over the place, despite daily vacuuming and regular washing and drying. I think the rug is actually shedding more than my dog - and that’s saying something. It washes and dries easily, but we’re just about to replace it with a turtle mat, as the amount of fluff it constantly spreads around is driving us up the wall.
