Newborn puppy advice needed

Hello, we have a week old puppy mum had a tiny litter and we lost all but one, we have 2 other adult dogs in the house, when is it ok for them to meet the new puppy?

Also mum isn't really that interested in staying with him, she will go to his cry's and feed him, she will sometimes snooze with him but she's spending more time away than with him during the daytime, she's wanting to be out and about with the pack! Any tips other than closing her in the room? To encourage her to be with him more? We are praising her when she's in with him.

He's started crying out more and more and is clear big just wanting her close.

In a rush but look at Jane Killon's Puppy culture excellent source of information. You will have to do a lot of work with a singleton puppy she will help

I would get urself prepared if u have not. Buy all the things u need to feed the puppy straight away. Just incase.

Thank you, we have the feeding kits ready, I'm busy finding local litters so he can have some social time with puppies, we've read loads about single pup issues.

I'll get the book thank you.

I was just wondering as our older male dog is very lethargic and would just lay for hours and the pup could snuggle him if mums not going to stay around during the daytime, w W could have a surrogate adult dog, he's super gentle.

I just wasn't sure on immunity? All my dogs had boosters 4 weeks ago.

She is feeding him, and will clean his face and bottom, she's doing her job but the absolute minimum. At night she's in the room with him and we are sleeping in and she's spending time with him. It's just daytimes shes too busy.

Might be worth asking your vet about an oxytocin injection - ours gave one to our cat after she rejected her kittens. It didn’t work for her but since your dog is at least showing some maternal instinct it could help.
