Absolute dogs

Has anyone done the 'sexier than a squirrel' course from absolute dogs and was it worth it. Dpup has fairly reliable recall currently but at 6.5 months I'm aware she's going to be entering her teenage rebellion very soon. She can be distracted by and run after other dogs (and im sure squirrels, she's a terrier) and has some form for running up to strangers and barking - this is very random and I can't really predict when it will happen - which is an anti social habit that needs nipped in the bud. Wondering if it was worth the money and if anyone had had any good results from it.

It is effective game reward based training. Lauren and Tom are very cheesy but if you do not mind that the dogs love the games.

You will be bombarded with promotional material for ever more and the basic games will be repackaged in many different ways.

If you are happy to work from videos and have the time then you can have fun with it.

Might be cheaper to buy the book 'Total Recall' by Pippa Mattinson.

It's often highly recommended on The doghouse by people who have used it.

Like all modern dog training methods they are both reward based methods of teaching recall but I imagine the 'sexier than a squirrel' course is going to be very expensive compared to a book.

I read a lot of books when I was training my dog and learned that way how to train her to have a completely reliable recall.

The course is currently 70% off - £27 which is why I was considering it. Seems to be fun and general bonding as well as recall but obviously not sure if it works in practice. Didn't seem a lot of it does

Well if it's only £27 for the course it might be worth giving it a go.

70% off. Sounds like they're a bit desperate to get people to do it.

I don't know if I was 'sexier than a squirrel' when I was training my dog but I do remember being loonier than the average dog walker with my excited 'lets play' voice and my leaping and running about to keep my dog's attention on me as I tired to be the most 'exciting' thing in the park'.

She's 9 years old now and I still use that voice when we play and it still gets her attention.

I would recommend the Squirrels course over Pippa's book.

The concept from Absolute dogs can be used in a variety of settings not just recall but impulse control, relaxation, learning new behaviours and improving your bond with your dog.

Squirels is definitely fun and does open up a new way of training your dog if you have not done an Absolute Dog course before.

It will open up way more avenues than just recall.

We did the STAS course and are really pleased. Once you have paid you get access to the activity videos forever and also access to the Facebook group. I don't plan on buying anymore of the courses though but for £27 I think it is worth it.

STAS came out at beginning of lockdown and the AD Training academy opened its doors after (can only sign up couple times a year) so would've been a natural follow on for those that found it beneficial, they do other stand alone courses & a 40% discount comes round on them every so often.
They do a podcast of the same name and will regular videos/question topics in the Facebook group. I find Tom & Lauren bit irritating but do talk lot of sense, dislike the AD marketing & think probably puts as many off as attracts but you can just set email to send them to one folder or spam.
