Hello,

There's a beautiful miniature dachshund puppy for sale, but she has an overshot jaw.

Could this cause further problems in the future? Thinking of vet bills etc

I don't mind with how she looks! She's adorable xxx

Depends how severe.
Some correct themselves as the puppy grow.
Some will cause no issues at all, some will cause dental problems.

I know a pedigree pointer from a very well respected international breeder, champion parents. He has an overbite. Doesn’t cause any issues at all but obviously he can’t be shown/bred from.

I would ask to take the puppy for a full vet check before committing.

My dog has an overbite. The vet told us as a puppy it might cause him some issues but he's now 6 and he's fine. The only thing he has issue with is picking up flat/almost flat items from the floor, as his teeth don't meet up to grab it. It annoys him sometimes but it's usually something he's stolen so I'm fine with it!

Thanks guys!

It won't effect the insurance will it?

I would imagine that any jaw issues may be excluded , you’d be best to ring your chosen insurer and ask if that’s going to be a deciding factor .
