Does this sound like a good routine for a 9 month old? What’s your dogs routine?

Wakes up anywhere between 4.30 and 7am (due to the light mornings and noisy birds unfortunately!)

Snoozes while DH potters about/watches tv until his morning walk 8-8.30am. Breakfast.

Mooches around the house, annoys the cats, sniffs about outside until 9 or 10am when I shut him in the kitchen with a kong. I leave him for around 3 hours and he sleeps for that time

We all have lunch, more mooching about, training session while I cook then we go for an off lead sniffy walk for 30mins to an hour

By now it’s usually 2/3pm. He gets very barky in the garden as next door’s dogs are usually out around this time and they don’t get walked at all so they bark at anything.

Second kong and sleep of the day in the kitchen for another 2-3 hours.

Then DH comes home from work around 6pm. High excitement, more training and a final walk to the green for last wee/poo around 8.30pm. Bed at 10.

Does that sound like enough activity? Too much alone time or ok? He struggles to settle if I’m in the room with him, he’ll sleep but he’s always got one eye on what’s going on and will follow me if I move so I think he’s better on his own in the kitchen.

It could be multiple things.

He could just be distracted/wondering what you're doing
There could be an element of resource-guarding (you're the resource)
You could be inadvertently reinforcing his activity - do you look at him/chat to him/give him any attention?
He could be anxious about being disturbed when sleeping especially if a bit 'trigger-stacked' and so need the sanctuary of his safe haven to fully relax

I think it sounds fine tbh, if you're confident the dog is settled and asleep when on his own then that's good. I guess some dogs like some people prefer to be on their own in a quiet place to rest.

My dog struggles to relax when we're at home as he doesn't want to miss anything!!

My dog wakes up at 7am when I do. He lazes on my bed whilst I go down and get coffee and bring it back. At around 8 I get up and he’s action dog whilst I grab clothes and shoes and we go straight out. He gets about an hours walk and then flops on the sofa. I work from home so his spot in the living room allows him to see me, the garden and the front door. He shouts at the postman around 10, next doors cat around 11 and has lunch in the garden with me under my chair about 1pm. If it’s cool he dozes until 3 when we do another hours walk. Then I make tea, he and I may play for a bit and then he goes to bed when my daughter does at 8. He’s 2 and he spends pretty much all day loafing. Whilst it’s hot he does a walk at 7pm instead of at 3.
He definitely doesn’t follow me around unless he thinks it’s walk or bed time. If I go upstairs at 7 he’ll come up and put himself to bed early!
