Argh joining the - my dog won't go for walks club...

Slightly different problem to most, she won't go for walks with anyone else anymore just me 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

Pretty sure it's because I am now wfh and she would rather sit with me than go on a lovely walk with someone else 🙄

Not quite sure how to stop her becoming even more fixated on me...

Is there anyone else in the house? My male is the same - 9 years old , totally besotted with his mum. Dog walker & DH have been known to drag him from the house.
Just the usual separation stuff. It’s difficult right now, but try to spend time away with him. I have taken coffee out to my car in the drive just to leave the house.🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh yes DH and 3 teens. DH and the eldest have always walked her a lot, probably more than me!!!

Nope end of the road then refuses to walk any further 🤷🏽‍♀️🙈

Usually Mom-Fri it is DDog, DCat x 2 and DH!

Can you deliberately spend less time with her during the week?

Mine is very clingy to me at the moment as I'm home and DH is working, so I do all feeding and the majority of walks.

I make a specific effort to leave him in the garden or downstairs on his own for a while so he doesn't get used to me being there 24/7.

I would worry about what might happen after lockdown otherwise.

😂 nope they've tried taking her out for first walk of the day in the afternoon but she's not having it... getting worse as the weeks go on!

When I was a teen, this was known as ‘taking the dog for a drag’. I don’t think we ever fixed it tbh.

You could try making the dog think you’ve gone out first perhaps.

No not really.

If it's sunny all of them sunbathe all day in the house, if not ddog will find someone to climb into bed with. I am boring sat working in a spare room.

I am the one that goes out to food shop.

DH has always WFH so her routine won't change I am just usually out at work. When I get back she greets me very enthusiastically then sits on DH lap which we have never wife understood.

We have fixed this in my dog just about. What worked for us, is that I seem really settled, my dd puts dogs lead on. When he stops on the driveway, he gets put back inside, lead taken off, me continuing with what I’m doing. DD then pretends to go for a walk without him, while dog watches her go from the window. When dd comes back, he’s usually desperate to go, so at that point he’ll go with her.

@Twooter that is really sweet. My dog loves her walks but also her sleep. If I am sat on the sofa she would rather curl up next to me!!!

She literally isn't interested in what anyone else is doing! She is a rescue so perhaps as I was her main carer for the first 5 days then I am just "the one" 🤷🏽‍♀️
