Can you recommend a fresh or even wet dog food?

Not sure I want to go down the raw route, I've heard it needs separate freezer / utensils etc. Plus with all this zoonotic virus issues don't know if I wanna go down that route. But I wouldn't mind a fresh or at least wet food recommendation. He just has zero interest in kibble. He eats under his recommended amount but. I think he eats his kibble as a very last resort, it takes him hours to eat. He salivates and begs when I feed the wet cat food they get.

He's a 5 month old pedigree SWD, don't really have a budget just want whatever is best for him.

Ours wasn't interested in Kibble either! We tried a few and have stuck with Lily's kitchen tinned food. Would love to do raw but just don't have the time and space.

Butternut dog food is amazing. It’s fresh cooked food that’s delivered frozen, you just defrost it and feed it to your dog.

My very picky dog has the small Applaws tins and pouches with a very small amount of kibble . He is nearly 10 and it’s the only wet food he will always eat , the tinned chicken breast is not remotely like any other dog food we’ve tried , and we’ve tried loads including raw , raw substitute nugget type things ( they were really rank) , other wet foods . It does work out quite costly as he’s a medium sized terrier .

I agree butternut box is good but it's really expensive! Lily's kitchen is very rich and gives lots of dogs upset tummy. We use Naturo...seems to go down well for a fussy pup, decent price and you can get grain free.

Butternut box here aswell although our dog has so many allergies that she can only have the lamb variety at the moment but a fish version is being launched so she will be able to have that too.

had exactly the same issue this week!!

i've bought a multi pack of wainwrights. comes in trays and our pup goes crazy for it now. started by just giving a small amount with regular kibble

it was 12.99 for 12 trays in 3 flavours from pets at home.....puppy version but they do older dog for 1 year up for that stage

Just if that doesn't work OP, my dog has a sensitive stomach and I started him on the Forthglade trays about 6 months ago and he loves them, they're not runny like most wet foods, I give him the grain free but they do with rice aswell, and it's really made a difference to his stomach. I give both my dogs a mix of wet and dry

Our JRT doesn't recognize any dry food, no matter how expensive or what wonderful list of ingredients it contains. So we feed him on boiled chicken mixed with boiled rice and veg. He sometimes has pouches of wet food and also raw meaty bones from the butcher once a week. He is happy and healthy

We add pouches of wet food to complete dry, 1 pouch a day for a 20kg dog, never gains weight so is right amount for my breed. He doesn't like dried but will nibble on it and is free fed apart from the wet pouch he gets after our evening meal (unless there's scraps in which case he gets those)

Butternut arrived this morning. Mixed half with his normal kibble and he ate the whole lot. :)

Vet told me that kibble is massively better for their teeth and to remove the chicken/scrambled egg etc I'd been adding to entice her to eat it and that within a week she would. It seems to have worked, they won't starve themselves. We save high reward protein for training now

Glad he liked it! We're considering Butternut so please keep me updated as to how you get on. What size pouches did you get? How much space does it take up in your freezer?

We have Tails kibble plus their wet food. Ddog is very happy with it, her coat is nice and shiny, we've noticed that weirdly her teeth are much less plaquey than when we used to feed Lilys Kitchen kibble plus Wainwrights wet food.

Thanks that's useful, just trying to work out if they'll fit in my fridge. Did a quote last night for Dpup and it's cheaper than I expected. But they say one 200g pouch a day- he's only a little miniature poodle- what's yours?

@minichoc yes same here 200g a day, he's a 5 month old SWD. I split it and miss it in with kibble. So thinking I'll delay each delivery as he won't be using the full 200g each day x

What is a SWD?

I really dislike butternut. Two of my three lost condition on it. Massive poos too. Mine are raw fed again but on Nutriment chubbs. Wet wise they tend to get Wainwrights trays. Outputs from them all are much better than with butternut too.

We use what the breeder uses. When I looked around I just found loads of advice and conflicts etc. I mentioned the brand we use to the vet that said it was good, so stuck with it, we mix 50:50 kibble and pouch from Burns, always the same flavour.
