I’ll try to keep it brief, I have posted in desperation before.

My puppy (15 months) developed grade 4 patella luxation in both legs by the time she was 1. She has surgery on 1 leg in January- a groove replacement as they were in such a bad way due to the level of deformity.

We have had her on a strict rehab plan, with physio and pain meds, preparing to get the other leg operated on.

But she has made no improvement at all. She limps most of the day, and cannot even play in the garden. The leg needs to be strong before they can operate on her right leg. I spoke to the surgeon on Thursday, he said she may need two full knee replacements but will probably never make a full recovery.

I have 5 children who cannot play with their dog. And it breaks my heart daily seeing in pain. For the first time this week I have considered letting her go- I cannot carry on like this. She has limped and struggled from being just 7 months old.

I feel I am putting her through more hell if we press on trying to get her fixed, but will feel like I’ve given up on her if we consider euthanasia.

I think I know who you are from our dog breed group. My heart breaks for you; you have tried so hard to help her, but you have absolutely done thr right thing.. that would be no life for a dog, and if I'm not wrong and she is a Eurasier, then a life of strangers doing things to her and not being able to goof about, would be very very hard.
You and she have been incredibly unlucky (I assume the breeder knows.. because usually the dogs sires have good test scores) but she will have known she was loved .
So sorry for your loss xxx

So sorry for your loss OP, it's heartbreaking Flowers

But I think you absolutely did the right thing. It's no life for a dog if they can't run and play. You did the right thing by your lovely pooch.

It hurts like hell, I can’t imagine feeling any better, I just pray that the pain eases. I feel robbed. I waited so long for her 💔.

It’s a relief to no longer be stuffing her with pain medication hoping today is the day that she walks normally. But I already miss her terribly, as do the kids. It’s so unfair.

If she's going to be in pain and unable to live a full life then I would left her go op. But I feel your pain. You have my deepest sympathy Thanks
