My dog just died

My westie 13 and a half just died without warning. I came in from shopping and he was pleased to see me tail wagging jumping up. He then went in the garden. Came in and his legs collapsed I went to get him up and my sister said he is foaming at the mouth. His head lifted but he didn’t get up his breathing was shallow. The vets were busy - my sister said he has gone. I listened to his chest he was dead. Since I bought him home at 12 weeks he has slept on my bed. He had been with me when I lived alone. My sisters husband just came home and we’ve buried him in the garden. Had no time to say goodbye... so sad

So sorry to hear of your loss OP.
It sounds as if he deserved every one of your tears...
Remember the happy times too. I'm glad that his end was swift and in his home -where love is.

I'm so sorry. My dog died last November, also quite suddenly but not quite like yours. Remembering her still makes me cry even though we now have a new puppy (DH couldn't cope without a dog in the house).

It's going to be really hard, but it gets easier, very slowly. Take care. Flowers

Lizziesbusy · 03/04/2020 21:32

Keep posting on here, OP & I found The Ralph Site on FB so useful too. I got hundreds of posts supporting me, no judgement. Not that you will here or on there.

So so very sorry you had to experience this. The world seems to be so cruel and brutal right now.

hiredandsqueak · 03/04/2020 21:45

I'm so sorry Fabbychix, he looks and sounds like a wonderful dog who was well loved and had a happy life. Try and take comfort from that Flowers

Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/04/2020 21:54

Oh that's awful. So sorry for your loss xx

OneOfTheGrundys · 03/04/2020 21:56

What a lovely little chap. I’m so sorry x

Lefkosia · 03/04/2020 21:58

I'm so sorry op what a horrible shock for you. He was happy, he was with you, and it sounds like it was fast so hopefully you can find some comfort in that. Sending you big hugs x

Giraffey1 · 03/04/2020 22:00

Oh. O, I’m so sorry. But you gave him lots of love and a long life xx

cerealnamechange · 03/04/2020 22:00

I'm so sorry. A similar thing happened to my little dog a few years back but she was only 6. She went into the back garden for a wee one evening and collapsed and by the time I'd got to her she was gone. It is such a shock and I was numb for a while and I still think about her now and wonder what happened but one thing I took from it was that she probably didn't even realise what was happening and she was healthy till the end, she'd never known pain. Take care and take it easy.

mineofuselessinformation · 03/04/2020 22:02

I'm so sorry.
Dogs are best friends in a furry disguise, and somehow seem to know how you are feeling, don't they?
I'm glad he is somewhere close by you.
Thanks

looondonn · 03/04/2020 22:04

I am so upset for you

This happened my angel last year same age

Still so sad about it
True best friends

AmelieTaylor · 03/04/2020 22:07

I’m SO sorry 🌷

He looks absolutely adorable. I’m sure you gave him an amazing life 💕 and as devastating it is for you, at least he didn’t suffer a prolonged illness. He died a very happy boy x

Honeyroar · 03/04/2020 22:13

I’m so sorry. That must have been a hideous shock for you. But he couldn’t have gone a better way. In his own home, happy and content with you. Lots of love to you. Of course you well up. It’s normal. I’ve lost two beloved dogs in the last couple of years and it hurts like hell. I’ve planted Xmas trees where they are buried. I talk to the trees now.

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 03/04/2020 22:37

That's made me cry. So sorry for your loss x

Miranda15110 · 03/04/2020 22:49

I'm so sorry for your loss. Although it is heartbreaking you should feel happy that he didn't suffer, that he had a full life span and a wonderful home with you xxx

Entschuldigung · 03/04/2020 22:59

That's so very sad. My dog died at the end of December and it was just awful. Absolutely take comfort in knowing you gave him a happy life and that he was happy and healthy right up until the end. Most dogs aren't that lucky. Thanks

pilates · 03/04/2020 23:03

Sorry for your loss, but it sounds like he had a great life with you 💐

twinnywinny14 · 04/04/2020 15:36

My friends dog had to be PTS alone at the vets last week and she couldn’t be there because of CV rules at the vets. Take comfort from the fact that if his time was up he went fast and free from pain. He was with those he loved and that loved him in his safest happiest place Xx

RhubarbBikini · 04/04/2020 15:41

What a beautiful dog you had. So sorry for your loss Flowers

Juanmorebeer · 05/04/2020 00:14

I am so so sorry. Sounds like you gave that doggy a wonderful life though. Lots of love x

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 05/04/2020 00:20

Oh sweetheart. I'm so sorry for your loss. X Flowers

My friend gave me a book years ago when my cat died called 'On Rainbow Bridge' or something like that. It was about grieving for your animals and it was really useful in helping me to move through my grief.

starlightgazers · 05/04/2020 00:25

I'm so sorry OP. What a beautiful dog,

Losing a pet is awful, they become part of the family, and tend to bring us nothing but happiness. Be kind to yourself, it is so painful bit in time that pain will ease Flowers.

fivedogstofeed · 05/04/2020 07:39

Oh what a shock, I'm so sorry. Thanks
