Dog poo- at my wits end!!!!

I’m really hoping for some suggestions before I lose my mind.
We have 2 smallish breed dogs, 1 is 5 and the other is 16 months. The 16 month old just cannot get through the night without having the tiniest poo. 7 hours is usually the longest she can go do on days that we have had an early night or of weekends she will most definitely have had a poo.

We have tried everything- changing to Raw (which has helped massively)/feeding last meal earlier/feeding last meal later etc.

Currently she is raw with a big meal in the morning and a small meal at around 5 ( earlier if we are home) she is walked loads. In the day she is crated so never any accidents there. We have tried crating at night but she goes mental at around 4/5am and I just can’t cope with the noise (thin walls and neighbours) god knows how she can tell the difference between nigh and day as in the day she is fine crated.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I would just love more that anything to get up after a little lie in to no poo!! Never any issues with my other dog :( sorry for the long post.

@Elsiebear90
No. Good owners won’t leave their dogs for seven hours. Just because they can hold it doesn’t mean they should.

Right okay then, looks like we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one..

RSPCA says "For those dogs who are happy being left home alone, we recommend leaving them for no more than four hours at a time."

But much longer than that is common according to that article. Obviously a lot of people just don't realise how much company dogs need before they get a puppy.

Far far too long alone and crated I'm afraid.

Well unfortunately that it the way it is for now due too our circumstances and it cannot be changed. For another 11 days she will be left alone once or twice a week.

When we are with them (which is a lot) they get plenty of love/cuddles/attention- they get walked 2/3 times a day- 2 of them usually on lead and 1 being a big run- they are both on a pet plan and are up to date with all of their vaccinations and are very healthy dogs.. to the pp who pretty much suggested neglect 👍🏽

Also to the other PP who said even with a dog walker it was to long to be crated... you for real? When a she is walked she is out of the house for 1 and a half hours. In a 7 hour day that’s 2:45 mins alone either side of the walk and she is also walked before going into the crate don’t forget 😂 don’t be ridiculous, she is asleep the whole time.

Not long ago I actually forgot to lock the crate when I went shopping and 20 mins later I checked the dog cam and she was going batshit..barking crying etc which was really unusual for her. I had to drive home to make sure she was okay put her back in the crate and locked it... she was fine and fell straight to sleep. This has happened a few times now, I thought she might have grown out of it but she still prefers to go in the crate when I pop out. She sees her crate as a calming place to be and gets stressed when she is not in there.

Anyway update- shifted the feeding times by a couple of hours in the evening and yay seems to have worked so far- We have done this before but realised not since being on a raw diet. We also did her last walk an hour later at night, we even had an 8 hour sleep! The pen was also delivered yesterday so trying that today. Thank you to everyone with your suggestions xx

Sorry, it doesn’t matter how you wrap it up you are being very, very cruel to your dogs.

You have said two days a week they don’t have a dog walker, so are in the crate for 7.5 hours.

When your new baby arrives they will get even less time.

The solution is to rehome them to people who don’t think shutting a dog in a small cage for hours on end is acceptable dog care.

Your dog(s) is/are being neglected.

Lots of dogs sleep because they're bored and have nothing better to do. If she's stuck in a crate all day, what other choice does she have? She can't exactly wander about, go outside, mooch, play with toys or anything, can she?

You clearly think your actions are acceptable so what was the point in this thread? People have told you that your treatment of your puppy is the reason for your accidents but you clearly aren't that bothered because it suits your lifestyle/finances to just leave your dog in a cage all day Hmm

There's obviously a problem here op.
Most people are suggesting the amount you crate your young dog is the problem, I agree.
Why don't you try doggy-day care for your dog until you go on maternity leave?
It sound like she need the company & stimulation.
