Any vets around - gammy eye

I have just noticed that there is a tiny amount of green gunk just outside the corner of one of her eyes. I have Brolene eye drops for myself (unused) and was wondering if I can use them on her until I can get to the vet. I don't think I'll be able to get an appointment for a few days as I'm at work all day (really can't take time off) and the evening appointments are really hard to get.

Or is there anything else I could do until I can get an appointment?

I had a dog who used to get like that. My vet said to use a tea bags that had been used and hold it against the eye to soak it

I wouldn't use something that's manufactured for human use unless I'd been able to confirm with a vet that it's safe. I say this because my sister, several years ago, told me she'd used some human eyedrops on her dog. The dog became blind in one eye. I'm not saying that's anything to do with the drops used and it's likely to have been more linked to my sister not taking the dog to the vet at all and gaining any sort of diagnosis, treatment, etc. But I wouldn't take the chance.

Could you get information from the vet about this over the phone before you can visit? I know some human medication can be used on animals, as in the past we've had Calpol suggested for a dog and also Xanax prescribed in the run-up to Bonfire Night. But without professional confirmation I wouldn't do it. Hope your girl's okay.

Hedgehogblues mentioned used teabags. Not heard of that one, but I have often used salt in cooled down boiled water on humans (for eg styes) and dogs for, say, ripped dew claws. I'm a big believer in salted water for helping to sooth things. Maybe I'll start selling it on Facebook as a 'cure' for the current coronavirus. It can't be any more delusional than most stuff on there. Presumbly there's something in teabags that has the same soothing/relieving effect.

I would phone and tell them there is green gunk in the eye but you are struggling to get in and can only go between these times. I find my vets shuffle things about if they think it's urgent and they usually treat eye issues as potentially such things.
