Cleaner and fleas question

Hi. I have just had a txt from cleaner to say that her and her colleague have been bitten quite badly so I may want to de flea my dog.

She was given a treatment about 3 weeks ago, sleeps with me and isn't scratching.

Does this sound likely? I don't want to just dismiss it but apart from the vets and apologising, I don't know what to do!

What makes you so sure Soubriquet? Not sure whether to ring the vet.

Take your dog to a hard laminate/tile floor. Get them to lay down and give them a good scratch all over. Use a white kitchen paper towel and wipe over the floor where you have just been.
If she has fleas you should see lots of flea dirt (dark dots) on the paper towel.

You can also check the dog - focus on the hair around the back of the neck, or under the legs.

Possibly your cleaner has a reaction and you don't.

I can't see any! Do fleas live on in bedding and furnishings even if dog has had treatment?

I don't know whether to apologise, ring the council pest control or both.

There can be eggs and insects in the carpet, that will jump up when a host walks by. They usually bite ankles and lower legs. Frequent thorough vacuuming, preferably using an upright with beater action, reduces their numbers, or you can use a spray.

Spot-on treatments reduce these lurkers, because they will die after they jump onto a treated host.

If the cleaner goes to other properties what is there to say it's from your dog and not somewhere else ? It can take a little while for bites to itch
Sounds like you are considerate and regular with treatment , give the house a good spray , get a can from your vet and ask his advice

There's only a couple that are effective I think - advocate ? And bravecta?

How do they know they were bitten at your property?? But yes do check what you’re using. Frontline (as an example) is useless.

She has Nexo... from the vet. Can anyone recommend a spray please?

I feel awful about it. I have a bite on my hand that must be fleas! I swear I haven't had anything since just now.

Should I throw away her blankets?

What’s nexo? Not a product I have heard of. Spray or shampoo or spot on?

It's Nexogard. Tablet form. Someone has suggested spraying the house with Indoorex?

Yeah I've had to treat my house with Indorex twice, seperate properties on separate occasions. It's very easy and very effective so I'd give that a go just on case. I'd apologise to cleaner, say you had treated the pet, but that you will treat the house and dog again. Don't be embarrassed, it's just one of those things with pets!

I use nexgard and we have never had fleas. Right dose? Not out of date??

blankets in the washing machine and tumble drier will kill them. But they will get reinfested (so will replacements if you buy new)
