Puppy limping

Almost 6 months old. We'd come in from a walk, all was fine. She "stole" a shoe and ran into the garden. We are working on this, we don't chase her, we use treats to get things back etc.

She ran out and back. And then sat next to me and held up her paw. I gently checked it over, no yelps, nothing obvious, checked her pads carefully. That was just over an hour ago. She is still clearly unhappy, occasionally panting and hiding away. She is eating and drinking.

I've phoned and left a message for the emergency vet (always on the bloody weekend!) Is there anything else I can do for her?

Does she have a crate? I would try and get hee to rest or for a bit.

I took one of ours to the vets as an emergency when she was a pup. The vets advice was to ctate and rest for about half an hour to an hour before panicking.

Obviously unless they are yelping and crying. If they are in clear pain it should be a vets visit.

Have you checked dew claws etc? Does it feel hot or swollen at all? Front or back leg? Breed?

Are you me?! 10 month old pup had normal walks today, got home from the shops (left him about an hour) and he’s limping! But pretty sure he was asleep the whole time we are out as he was knackered. Not sure what to do - he’s just been snuggling up to us, for comfort, I think.

My dog has been known to sleep for ages in one position and give herself a dead leg! Maybe slipped if ground is wet OP?

I went back to look and I think it does look swollen. DH is taking her to emergency vet. She's really sad, ears back.

She's a..... Labradoodle. Please don't lynch me. We chose her for a specific purpose, from a specific breeder and based on the nature and personality of both parents.

She does normally walk it off. She has been known to present a paw and then immediately walk fine for food! This is different.

Hope it's nothing too serious. Best to get it checked out though so you are doing the right thing as it could be nothing or something.

Oh bugger. Hope she’s ok. I only asked breed as some are prone to specific joint issues. Hope the emergency vet can help quickly.

I know @Wolfiefan, it's just that admitting to owning a labradoodle on here can be scary!

DH has text to say they think it's a sprain and has pain relief. Honestly this puppy will be the end of me!

it would be a special kind of nasty to berate you for your choice of dog whilst you’re worried about its health!
