Hello lovely strangers in my phone

I'm at my wits end I actually sat down and cried today.

So we have 4 poodles and we are very used to dogs especially poodles. They are lovely generally well behaved apart from one female poodle 11 months old who has taken a liking to my duvet as a toilet specifically wee. She's done it again today why why why she's let out at regular intervals walked etc. Can anyone solve this mystery ? It's getting me down tbh x

Uti? Coming into season? Duvet not properly cleaned after last time?

Or she’s a decided it’s a nice warm spot. If she doesn’t do it over night while you’re in the bed keep them out the bedroom or where ever you can’t see during the day. Baby gates work for us (someone loves my upstairs rug) but they let the cat roam easily. Just one on the living room door, so they stay down stairs.

Yes I do and have a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs but she slipped through today . Closing the door doesn't really solve the problem of why she thinks it's okay to wee on the duvet ?

She will quite happily sleep on the duvet without messing on it. It's just at other times she pees on it . I believe it's cleaned thoroughly! She hasn't come into season yet and is booked in to be neutered in December. She's very loving and gentle . I just can't understand it.

I'm having the same problem with my 14 month old Lhasa. He constantly pees on my daughters coat. We have lower hangers so they can reach them, and if she hangs it up he will cock his leg. Never on anyone else's, just hers and particularly if she's worn it for school. We tried a belly band but as soon as it's removed, he does it. So I'm in a similar situation

She thinks it's ok to wee on the duvet because she keeps weeing on the duvet - it's the dog version of the ouroboros.

Just keep her out the room long enough for her to forget the habit.

Sometimes it’s just that it’s a convenient spot and a bad habit. Our gate is solid... we have a Houdini (also the rug hater) who fits through the bars.

If you can get a sample (small low tub) the vet can dip it n check for infection, if she’s coming into season it’ll be swelling n nesting behaviours that show through.

If it’s a habit closing the door breaks it, as she’s no option to do it, or she’ll be caught trying at least.

Thanks for the replies I will just have to make sure she doesn't slip through the stair gate and the bedroom door is closed.

Our poodle had a bit of trigger with a certain dog bed with a white fluffy cover. I suspect it is a throwback to puppy pad days (maybe yours never saw a puppy pad, but mine had them in the breeder's pen) Would a dark duvet cover solve the problem if your daughter's bed is light coloured?

Oh I never thought of training pads I did use them when she was younger and they were white on the side she used to wee on.

My duvet and duvet covers are white. Will buy a dark cover. Thank you for this I think you may have solved the mystery ! x

Oh dear alwayscauseastir maybe some clever mumsnetter will be able to advise you. It's disheartening when this continually happens. Maybe your daughter's coat picks up other dogs smells ?
