Being nosey, and after ideas/recipes.

Mine is on a mixture of kibble and barf.

OP posts:
Spidey66 · 04/10/2019 10:28

A mixture of tinned meat (Butchers) with fresh meat roughly 3 times a week, usually liver because it's cheap. She also gets tinned hot dogs mixed in with the tinned meat.

She gets fresh bones a couple of times a week.

She often gets leftovers as well, for instance if we've had a roast, she'll get a bit of left over meat, a roast spud, veg and gravy.

We don't feed her much kibble as it seems to give her the runs, though we'll use dog biscuits for training her.

Spidey66 · 04/10/2019 10:29

PS in case that wasn't clear, she gets Butchers most days but with liver about 3 times a week.

Elzbells · 04/10/2019 10:31

I use Butternut Box, he loves it, it's portioned out for me and it just gets delivered on subscription every 3 weeks.

Usually top with a bit of mackerel/roast chicken etc to keep it interesting.

fanniboz · 04/10/2019 10:38

My lab has dry turkey and rice James Wellbeloved with a bit of Forthglade wet food on top for extra flavour. The dry kibble can be costly but she has food intolerances so has to be on a hypoallergenic diet

MaitlandGirl · 04/10/2019 10:40

My toy breed boys now have BlackHawk grain free for small dogs and our girl has Royal Canin urinary S/O as she has issues.

Our new puppy will be on BlackHawk as well only for large breed dogs.

We’ve been through pretty much every dry dog food available in Australia and our fussy little boy adores the BlackHawk.

Every day for lunch they get raw veggies and they share the rabbits veggies for supper too.

Leo90 · 04/10/2019 13:10

Arden Grange sensitive with forthglade wet food.

Hiredandsqueak · 04/10/2019 13:55

I rotate Forthglade with Harrington's grain free wet food. Bella prefers the Harrington's but not sure of the quality. She has scraps of chicken mixed in as well whenever there are leftovers. And she loves frozen peas so when it was hot she got those mixed in instead of chicken.
Tbh to say she was underfed and fed on Bakers complete before she came here she is pretty fussy unless it comes to scavanging out on our walks when anything is fair game.

kjhkj · 04/10/2019 13:58

Natures menu raw bites. Plus a little bit of the natures menu kibble and a couple of raw eggs a day.

kjhkj · 04/10/2019 13:58

Forthglade made DPup really ill.

missyB1 · 04/10/2019 14:04

Harringtons grain free kibble and wet. She used to have Lily’s kitchen but she got bored of it. Harringtons is cheaper so it’s a win for me!

BigusBumus · 04/10/2019 14:10

My gundog (Black Lab x Working Cocker) will eat anything, she has one full cup of Moles Country Dog (kibble) a day and various things she's nicked from the kitchen counters during the day (half a lemon drizzle this morning for example, plus she licks the plates everytime i open the dishwasher door, greedy fucker)

The Jack Russells are fussier, they have the same kibble but with some Naturo / Lilys Kitchen / Forthglade mixed in as a kind of dressing. The Lab stands and waits for them to finish and licks the rest of theirs up too.

PestyMachtubernahme · 04/10/2019 14:23

Mine is on Fish4Dogs kibble (always with some warm water on it), butchers tins and a portion of roasted veg.
She loves fish and veg.

A great place to compare dog foods, nutrition and price.

sophiasnail · 04/10/2019 17:20

My VERY picky, toy poodle has Royal Canin kibble for dogs

adaline · 04/10/2019 20:48

Mine has Crave dry food, mixed with Encore wet food.

He's very fussy but this is the only food he'll eat for longer than two days in a row...

BlueSkyBurningBright · 04/10/2019 21:46

Mine hates kibble and will not eat it. She is on raw with Bella and Duke completes, I also give her duck wings and duck necks sometimes.

WiggleButt · 04/10/2019 21:51

WigglePup has been on Millies Wolfheart for the last year and did really well on it. Unfortunately he's become a bit picky so to mix it up we have just bought some bags from Essentials (which I'd never heard of but it's well rated on allaboutdogfood) and it's early days but it seems very good!

He usually gets some tinned fish or a little bit of wet food mixed though too.

MrsPnut · 04/10/2019 22:11

Our pugs are on barking heads kibble and lily’s Kitchen meat twice a day. Our black pug’s coat is so shiny he looks patent.

cocopops88 · 04/10/2019 22:17

Our Deerhound has Dr Johns silver beef kibble and forthglades wet. Sometimes the ears the biscuits, sometimes she doesn't but I don't mind too much when 15kg costs me £11. Some days she eats 1 tray of meat, some days she eats 3! Occasionally I buy done different biscuits and add a sprinkle of them if she looses interest. She won't eat bones at the moment, but does usually like lambs hearts.

shinynewapple · 05/10/2019 00:03

I put Lily's Kitchen breakfast crunch (biscuits) in his bowl in the morning which he sometimes eats first thing and other days will snack on throughout day. Then a bowl of Lily's Kitchen wet food (assorted flavours) for supper. Also he gets a kong stuffed with cooked chicken or sausage when we go to work and I give him a dental stick or other treat as I come back from work so that I can get myself changed / put shopping away etc without him jumping round me. And a biscuit at bedtime.

SilverChime · 05/10/2019 00:03

Butternut Box is amazing!

Alonglongway · 05/10/2019 00:13

we did butternut box for a few months - amazing service. But unfortunately pooch changed his mind and we found we were throwing loads of it away. He now has kibble down all day, half a tin of lily's kitchen and any leftover Felix from the cat

BlackSwan · 05/10/2019 06:28

Usually orijen kibble with lily's kitchen tins (which i think look revolting). But recently tried Aatu kibble and he went nuts for it - is it like McDonald's compared to Orijen? I'm mixing the two together now.

Springcleanish · 05/10/2019 07:05

Skinners field and trial, good quality Kibble mix and it's VAT free so a lot cheaper.
For treats, Chicken scraps, sausage meat or minced beef in a kong, works out cheaper than specific dog treats.

kjhkj · 05/10/2019 11:39

I've just bought the bargain of the century on natures menu £40 reduced to £15.

missbattenburg · 05/10/2019 13:04

Has anyone found a kibble for dogs who don't like kibble?!

Battendog is not super keen on kibble. However, he much prefers the smaller sizes. Some people make the same food but in tiny little kibble pieces (e.g. canagan).

He also likes it mixed with wet and a little bit of water or a bit of tinned fishbecause it gets coated in the fishy oil or water (obs fresh, not brine).
