My dog has a very bad case of an upset stomach! What can I do??

Stop all food for 24 hours then feed a really bland diet like rice and chicken, or scrambled egg. Just watch to make sure they don't get dehyrated - any concerns, phone your vet. If you think your dog has eaten something it shouldn't, I'd be tempted to ask for advice just in case it's something toxic or has caused a blockage.

Thank you will give scrambled eggs tonight. I haven't given her much today.

No fear of eating anything have children so not much left around.

Is there anything I can give her??

I always have Pro-Kolin paste in the cupboard, you can buy from Amazon or any pet shops. It's a binding agent and pro-biotic, may be worth trying a local pet shop or a vet? I've got a puppy (11 months) who is always eating things she shouldn't, this and the rice trick is always enough to get her back to normal.

Chicken and rice is the best way to go. Don't starve her because she needs food so that her stomach needs to produce good bacteria to kill off the bad bugs. If she's no better by Monday see a vet

How big is she? Buscopan is often helpful and a probiotic if you have one. Is she bright and reasonably well though? Because if she's dull or vomiting repeatedly you should take her to a vet.

She hasn't been starved just not as much as usual with access to water.

She's about 7-8 kg I think

Should add no vomiting and ok in herself I think

If you can get hold of pumpkin in a can I would fed this with canned tuna in spring water, easier on the stomach than chicken and rice and clears up runny tummies in hrs, its good stuff to have in your cupboards, just feed little and often and no need to starve.

What a nuisance - always happens on a weekend when vets are more expensive and harder to get hold of! My previous dog (who was large) had bouts of diarrhoea due to injudicious eating in the forest/off the pavement, etc. Before we got a chance of seeing a vet, at the onset, sometimes she was so up and down in the first night asking to go out and getting pretty worn out in addition to feeling so poorly, I would give her an Imodium to halt things if possible and give us both some sleep. I told the vet once and they said that was OK to do. Of course, it would depend on size of dog - you have to read the dosage carefully and estimate how much she weighs compared to a normal adult. I used to give her 1 capsule - she weighed about 32 Kg.

I second pro-kolin, it is magic for upset stomachs in dogs and is exactly what my vet would prescribe but is cheaper from amazon and you save yourself the consultation fee. I always keep some handy.

One of my dogs is getting bit elderly now and is prone to an upset stomach (old dogs produce fewer digestive enzymes) but a dose of pro-kolin always sorts her out.

She's much too small for a whole Buscopan or Immodium tablet. Buscopan is difficult to divide. I'd sugest probiotic, small amount of bland food and see how she goes.
