Breed recommendations please

We have a 3.5 year old lurcher bitch who is slightly nervous. She is great with small dogs, barks on the lead at 'scary' dogs - usually bigger ones. Fine off the lead.
We have a 3 year old and a baby grandchild who our lurcher is fine and gentle with.
She likes to play with patterdales, border terriers and other sighthounds best.
What sort of dog do you think would suit us best?
We used to have an older saluki/greyhound who died in November and we are now looking for a companion for young dog.
1 adult at home all day, 1 at home half days,
We are looking for willingness to please, not snappy with kids, good with other dogs, and not super intelligent as characteristics! 😁

I take it you don't want another lurcher? I've never met a lurcher that wasn't gentle natured.

What sort of size were you thinking?

Potentially another lurcher, but just looking at options really.
Any size up to greyhound really.

Any ideas guys?

I'd say border terrier

Borders are great little dogs although they do need plenty of socialisation when young as I've met a few who are dog aggressive.

A whippety type lurcher?

What about a lab or too big? If you look for working breeding they can be around 20kg ish.

Bichon frise are lovely gentle dogs if you dont mind the grooming.

Border Terrier. Socialise it and you'll be fine. Mine lives to please us, it's his motivation in life!

Hey guys. As a dog fosterer of many years I would advise sticking to what you're familiar with! How about rescuing a ex racer they're so many in need of a loving family to be a complete couch potatoe! Great & calm with children will easily get on with a nervous lurcher. The only caution is get from a rescue that has experience so you don't have a chaser on your hands! Best of luck.
