Giving a rescue a new name

We are in the throes of adopting a beautiful girl, Bulldog cross, 5 years old. She’s ours whatever; hook, line and sinker.
Rescue mentioned today would we think of changing her name? This hadn’t even occurred to us - her name is her name after all. They thought they would mention it because then they can start calling her by her ‘new’ name and obvs her chip would have the new chosen name.
Her name is fine btw but not one we would have chosen so now we are torn! Rescue said that most new owners don’t change names but a minority do so she mentioned it. Any advice please?

I'm looking at a rescue dog at the moment that has the same name as my husband, if that one went anywhere we would have to change it!

Such a cutie !
My sister changed hers to a similar sounding name beginning with same letter. But the original name was a bit weird. I would prob keep if I liked it or change to a similar one if didnt like. Wasnt a problem at all for my sisters dog.

She is gorgeous! What have you named her?

We changed ours and he was 6, had 1 week of e.g. Rex... Rover...Rex and its been fine!

Evenin all
Sorry to be that OP who never updates!
Been really worried all week. At the time of my OP she had (still has) health issues but they seemed to be getting better at the time. But they aren’t. Since coming to Rescue slightly over 3 weeks ago she’s had diarrhoea. She didn’t have diarrhoea when she arrived there, it started afterwards. She was on a crap diet in her former home and has been on a vet prescription food since. Also had a strong wormer. All blood tests are clear, last week 3 stool samples from 3 different days were tested - vet said today that nothing has shown up, vet has put her on a 3 week course of antibiotics.
Poo is firmer in the morning but gets watery/looser as the day goes on. She doesn’t seem stressed at all. She’s a happy dog but maybe she’s masking it?? Do dogs do this?
We are all on tenterhooks & just want her with us. Rescue won’t rehome her until the poo is sorted (plus she needs to be spayed and a non-malignant lump removed). The Rescue are amazing and we are in contact daily, our home visit went well (fence check etc) this week. Poor lady, she should be here in front of the fire.

Omg waffle waffle, thank you all you lovely posters and your posts with your beautiful rescue pups. So many gorgeous dogs out there!

PS her new name is Dolly 💕

That’ll be lovely. Enjoy.

We were going to change the name for our dog but after 6 weeks of visiting her at the rescue (she has ishoos so we had to do a lot of bonding time) we couldn't think of her as anything else but the name they'd given her so we kept it. She also answers to multiple other nicknames though!

Sky/new name is absolutely gorgeous! 😍

Oops sorru missed the update. Dolly is a lovely name!
