Anyone have any experience with this organisation? Am looking to adopt a young dog, rather than buy a puppy. These guys rescue from abroad but it seems they stay abroad until adopted so no chance to meet before taking them. They assess them but I have 2 children (aged 9 and 6) so really need the right dog. Just wondering if anyone has any stories of adopting a dog from abroad in this way.

Just adding my story to the list here, . We adopted a dog through SCGRR early this year. Described as ‘happy, playful, great with children’. Has turned out to be anything but. The dog is hugely traumatised, aggressive and destructive and we feel is totally unsuitable to be living in a family house. We are totally out of our depth and out of ideas. Support from them is limited to links to YouTube videos. We are on the verge of deciding to rehome the dog as we are having so many serious problems and can’t see a way out. Our contract with SCGGR states we must hand the dog back to them but honestly from what I have seen from other peoples experiences and added to stuff that has surfaced online this week, I don’t trust them to rehome onwards responsibly. I would be VERY interested to know if anyone has surrendered their dog to a different rescue organisation and whether there was any comeback from SC - I presume their ‘contract’ isn’t really worth the paper it’s written on.

It is unlikely that the contract is enforceable - however the publicity that an attempt to enforce against you would attract will prevent legal action.
However from reading other posts, be prepared for some unpleasant moments.

How awful for you; it seems this happens far too often with dogs not being ready to go into a home. I follow a charity that rescues dogs and they all go to their farm for observation and to decompress. That’s what is needed so that the behaviourist SC could assess the dogs properly and provide a detailed plan of what is required. Although I’ve also read she is not a registered animal behaviourist. You don’t know what to believe anymore.

So many dogs in the UK, so many dogs with their person overseas and now another 15 to add into the mix. £2000 I mean really.

Today they are posting another 'urgent appeal' or 'they will all die' about a number of dogs in a kill shelter about to be pts. Fair enough & it's very sad & the shelter looks vile but for EACH dog they save, the cost of a vet check, vaccinations, microchip & foster care is a whopping £650! Are you having a laugh, I mean seriously? Did they add a nought onto the end of that sum by mistake? Something is def not right here!
