Poorly dog - sick last night, not eating/drinking, now panting

Not sure what to do.

Partner is at work, his dog is here.

She was sick at about 1, seemingly partially digested food, then again at about 3 which was just some brown gunk. We got up this morning to find she had also had a poo on the hallway floor.

She hasn’t eaten or drunk anything all day. She is just lethargic and looking very sorry for herself.

She is next to me on the bed and is on and off panting. It’s not hot.

Any ideas what to do? Partner not back until the early hours of the morning.

If one of your children hadn’t eaten or drank in a day, was panting in pain would you force them to suffer until morning?

Take the dog in. Not knowing anything about dogs is no excuse for making an animal suffer.

Please take your dog to the vet!

So you have an animal clearly in pain and you're happy to leave it in pain all night while you enjoy a restful night's sleep?

Just take the poor thing to see the vet.

I really hope you took the dog to the vets last night but I doubt you did given your updates.

Please take her this morning because she is obviously ill and in pain and it could be a number of things including serious life threatening conditions.

We did take her. They have her an anti emetic injection and have prescribed some omeprazole and probiotics. The vet wasn’t too worried about her. Thanks for all the replies.

I am glad you did because all those signs your dog was giving were similar to when my dog had a blockage and if we hadn't gone to the vets twice (first time we all thought it was something else) as an emergency we would have had a dead dog.

So glad she is feeling better. Thing is, these things are often innocuous but it is impossible to tell without examining. As a vet nurse my worry was obstruction also.

Frustrating to have to pay OOH fees but you did the right thing

Pleased she's feeling better and it was nothing serious. You did the right thing though, taking her to the vet.

The problem is, you never know. With animals it's always wise to err on the side of caution.

Calm down guys, the qualified vet nurse said it wasn't an emergency. No need to talk to the Op like she's thick.

Having spent several hundred pounds getting my dogs tested after being sick and then not eating a meal for a bit, and my dogs being diagnosed as just being 'inappetant' (off their food) I'm reluctant to take them in unless they're showing other symptoms. One is a very hairy husky cross so constantly panting.
I don't blame you for asking here for advice first. Hopefully all will be well again soon.
