I hate this weather - poor doggos

Anyone else's pup absolutely desperate to go for a walk in this horrible heat?

I have a (very fluffy) Pomeranian who jumps up and scratches my leg when he wants to go for a walk and has been doing so for the last half an hour. Poor pup doesn't understand that it's far too hot.
I feel so mean!

Of course, I'll take him this evening when if it cools down, but judging by the forecast it'll still be too hot at 10pm!

Also bought the dog a special doggy paddling pool and he won't go anywhere near it despite paddling and swimming in the sea on holiday last week Hmm. Bloody ungrateful dog

I feel your pain. I have a Japanese Spitz (so similar to a Pomeranian) who has spent most of the day asking to go in the garden to cool down, then looking mournfully at me each time he realises it’s hotter out there...

I have been driving him 4 miles to a wooded area where he can potter about under complete shade. Even then I haven’t risked more than 30 minutes at a time.

Luckily he’s 8 and more of a potter-about than a dash-about kind of dog.

Frozen carrots are a good idea

Also if you dog won't go in paddling pool I've put chopped up carrots in before for bobbing.

Will be walking at 5am tomorrow as only way to get her out before it's too warm.

I'm suffering from major rage at people walking dogs during the day. And then to cap it off a celeb on Instagram took her dog running in London at 1pm. People are fucking stupid.

Thanks @golightlytoday will try carrots tomorrow. Tried treats which sank and that didn't work !! I am completely with you on the rage. My children are probably sick of my constant comments of " look at that poor dog", " you try putting a fur coat on and chasing a ball endlessly " in this weather etc etc !

Ddog had a walk but plenty of rests in the shade and water when he wanted it.. Walks are his highlight of the day..

@RedHelenB yes no issue taking them out very early but not any later than 7am

I was out at 5am and the humidity was so high. I just hope people don't even think to go out with their dogs later today.

Mine goes out with the dog walker but they play in a stream and wander through the forest which is cooler. He is also spoilt and gets a air conditioned bedroom at night Grin

DS2 is out with ours at the moment. Its still cool here and the garden has lots of shade so they're currently pulling along a sledge which was yesterday filled with water as a makeshift dog paddling pool. Won't be long before its much cooler inside than out.

It's a shame they can't take their coats off!

Maggie usually gets 2 walks a day, one morning and one evening. Tuesday we decided not to walk her in the evening, but being a 6 month old border collie meant she had loads of excess energy and she was a little sod. She's much better once she's burnt off that energy and she was walked last night.

We've got a product called Mushers Secret which is like Vaseline, you put it on their paws and it acts as a barrier against hot pavements and snow. You put it on a couple of times a week.

We were up and out at 6am this morning for an hours run/swim at the beach. We came home and he's decided he wants to be under his fleecy blanket Hmm

We have a shaded paddling pool up in the garden for him too.

I walked Bella at six again today and there were so many dogs out up on the field there was a real sense of camaraderie. Bella is laid in front of the glass door catching the sun and then comes and lays in front of the fan to cool off when she has had enough.
