Talk about being too clever about names - I met a dog called Roach, and asked if it was about a missing part. The woman was mystified, but perhaps she had not named him.

What colour is the puppy OP?

Mmm, if he was mine he would probably end up being Zebedee as he had a lot of spring.
But then i am hopeless with names, the sort of person that calls their jack Russell 'jack'. Although I to be fair I haven't called my Dalmatian 'spot', but only because the breeder gave her perfectly adequate name and the children were threatening to call her some horrendous triple barreled name, which fortunately I can't remember offhand, except that jasmine featured in it somewhere.

Daniel the Spaniel is hilarious! But I think we need pics to make a choice. My friends is called Seamus.

My colleague's springer is called Jerry, which is funny.

I wouldn't go for anything over 1-2 syllables as its easier for the dog to learn their name if its short.

You can always do what we do and name your dog after a power station! Its fun having a name where you have to explain it (all our animals are named after power stations, husband works in the energy industry so we are geeks).

I was just thinking this morning what I’ll name my next dog (I yearn for a fox red Labrador)

I settled on Fox (imaginative, I know)
or Jarvis.

The thing is, you spend time figuring out a name for your pet and the oh or kids rename it something like 'guts' 'spanner-dog', spot etc and not only is all that effort wasted, the wretched creatures start answering to them as well!
