Dogs arseholes

I've just had the misfortune to watch my dog shitting. It was deliberate as she's had horrible softy poos last week so I've switched her to raw and wanted to see if she was straining as I know it makes poo much harder and drier.

So she's pushing away and it's like the bloody visceral gates of hell I can see - it's really red, looks horrific.

After poo, normal brown starfish arse - no blood, all closed up.

IS THIS NORMAL ?

Obviously talking about my dogs arse isn't but the inside of the arse being incredibly red???

Sounds like my dogs areshole, I first thought he was prolapsing the first time I saw it, then I thought he was constipated and I've seen it when he's had the squits.

I'd only worry if the arsehole doesn't go back in and hangs out all the way home.

I do find it quite fascinating the contortions doggos get themselves into dumping a load. Mine will back up a tree to avoid shitting on a pavement (good for him and yes I do bag it).

No idea, but don't have any burning desire to witness either, when my lab shits his bum is so close to the ground and tucked in I would need to lay my head on the grass and look up!

Could just be glands, I know they present at quite red, they are quite close to the hole so could be them releasing whatever it is the glands release when the dog goes?

My dog's is like this,when she really strains one out,then all pops back in one said poo has been evacuated! Just make sure your DDog isn't overly constipated and drinking enough

Could be anal glands.

Bran flakes are good for adding fibre to their diets and to stop them struggling to poo.

Totally normal. I’m not an expert on dog anuses but I called and asked our vet about exactly this when our girl had an op to remove her anal glands. I panicked when I saw the redness!
