After a long period of deliberation, researching etc we travelled a few hours to join our prospective breeder on a lovely forest walk with her dogs, her ex puppies and their owners... and agreed that we have found the breed for us.
A large pack all together, but just the calm gentle dogs we had been told they are. And I got to cuddle a 'not been out long' baby of 12 weeks who was just...amazing... a confident happy little pup (who fell asleep on my lap and I didn't want to let her go!)
The contract is a good one... breeder will advise and if the worst should happen she has her pups returned to her at any age,..she said it is rare but has taken the odd dog back when the family circumstances have changed to the point it isn't fair to keep a dog. She is a fully accredited and registered breeder with all health scores listed and the Mum-to -be is a fabulous girl.
We are going to have a dog... 51 years I've been waiting for my own! Roll on August.....

Can you tell I'm excited?!

(ps once again, not having a rescue because I have an adult son with special needs who is very gentle and lovely but we need a pup we can train and not come with issues)

Congratulations - I’ve met a couple of Eurasiers and they were lovely dogs.

This build up time is so exciting - we’re on the list for a puppy nearer the end of the year

MaitlandGirl · 15/04/2019 08:06

Damnit - pressed send too soon!!

.... and we can’t wait, we’ll we can as we don’t have any choice but we’d rather not have to! It’s all been a bit tainted for us as we’ve just lost our big boy, but this mating won’t be repeated for 2 years and our oldest is getting on a bit.

Don’t forget to take lots of photos when you get your puppy - it’s handy to look back in a sweet sleeping puppy photo when they’re behaving like they’re possessed!

RedPandaFluff · 15/04/2019 08:07

I hadn't heard of this breed until now so had to google, and wow - what handsome dogs they are! Congrats @StillMedusa

Whatsforu · 15/04/2019 08:17

It's quite something on mn. Here is a person who has done the research and taken the time to choose the right dog for her family!!! But hold on here we have some downright nasty comments because it's not a rescue!!!! Some people honestly!!! Op I hope you enjoy your future pup and all the excitement leading up to when you collect him/her.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 15/04/2019 08:41

Yes, OP has researched, has met the breeder, seen the dog in its family environment, been out for a walk with owners of other puppies from this breeder, checked the medical history - done everything recommended to try to guarantee that this puppy is not from a puppy farm and still gets berated on here.

TopDogs2019 · 15/04/2019 08:48

So exciting! Love the puppy stage, exhausting, but lots of fun (when you look back on it!) and the trials and tribulations are what bonds you. I don't understand why almost every post is hijacked by the 'you must rescue' brigade? Like we're all unaware that the rescue option is available? OP you shouldn't have to justify your reasons and choices on here when your original post explained clearly your intentions. Thank God you never mentioned a breed with 'poo' in the name, or you might have been flamed to death on here! (Thats worse than not rescuing apparently) Wink Can't wait to see lots of pics. Xxx

fortifiedwithtea · 15/04/2019 08:55

OP congratulations, I totally understand your excitement. We have a daughter with a learning disability and serious mental health issue. We are researching what puppy to get too since the therapy dog visits were such a help to her in hospital.

We plan to wait until the guinea pig has passed away before getting a pup.

Ribeebie · 15/04/2019 09:03

Congratulations OP it's such an exciting time.

missbattenburg · 15/04/2019 09:04

tbf the berating seems to have come from one person who clearly had too much time on their hands overnight...

OP, sounds like you have done everything you can to responsibly source a happy, healthy puppy with the support of a good breeder. It is such an exciting time, waiting for a new dog to join the family.

Just remember, even the best dogs can test your patience as puppies. Take videos, breathe deep, try to laugh rather than cry and have faith that calm consistency will eventually result in the dog growing up into a good un. It feels like a walk of faith at times Grin

Wolfiefan · 15/04/2019 09:07

You’ve clearly done your research and have carefully considered what would be the best fit for your family. If everyone did this there would be far far fewer dogs in rescue.
I would be wanting to know how many bitches this breeder has and how often they breed though. It does sound like they are a prolific breeder. That would make me worried that they had loads of bitches in kennels or bred repeatedly from the same few bitches.
Good luck on your journey. Took me years to find my girl. She was worth the wait.

BiteyShark · 15/04/2019 09:07

Congratulations OP.

Ignore the poster berating you for not rescuing a dog. They should be berating the owners that put them there not the ones that take their responsibility seriously.

sunshinefinally · 15/04/2019 09:20

'Ignore the poster berating you for not rescuing a dog. They should be berating the owners that put them there not the ones that take their responsibility seriously.'

This!! 🙌🏻

Lovely news congratulations OP

Please ignore any negativity.

chickenalapesh · 15/04/2019 10:18

Eeeek it's so exciting! I'm waiting on a Japanese spitz being born!

I looked at this breed also, totally understand why you went for them. They are gorgeous!

squirrelspatchcock · 15/04/2019 12:07

Congratulations! Getting a puppy is so exciting and they become one of the family as soon as they walk through the door.

Also, you really don't have to justify to anyone why you haven't gone down the rescue route. Some of the comments on here are so judgemental and horrible. Taking on an animal is a big commitment and it has to be the right decision for you.

MultipleMum5 · 17/04/2019 18:40

Ahhhh I have a Eurasier!

She is wonderful. One of the best decisions I have ever made. She’s now 16 weeks.

Good luck- you’ll love it!

StillMedusa · 17/04/2019 20:10

Multiplemum I'll be asking advice then in a few months :)

I am so excited.. originally the decision was more for the benefit of our Dd2 but now DH and me just can't wait for our own wolfy hairball!

sogentlewithnoammonia rude much?

florentina1 · 18/04/2019 08:37

It is great when you can realise your dreams of dog ownership. We planned to have a dog when we retired. Retirement did not go as planned as we spent the first 10 years caring for 3 elderly relatives. We finally got our dog when we were 70. We went for an older dog, she was 8 when we got her and is the light of our life,

My son has just got a puppy and does not seem to have had the problems with it, that seem so prevalent on here. I am sure you will get much joy from your dog and I wish you well.

Soubriquet · 18/04/2019 08:42

Pictures will be needed as soon as you get one you know this right?! Grin

Good luck with your new puppy
