Dog walking company name

Wise dog lovers of mumsnet please could you help me name my Dog walking company?

I'd like something simple and memorable. I'll also be offering home visits and cat care, but walking is the main part of the business.

I wondered about 'brown paws' (all other colours taken), or 'outdoor paw'?

I know threads like this can raise concerns about careless dog walkers. I know how important this job is. I am trained, and first aid qualified. I will be fully insured and have a DBS check. I am gaining further experience with the dogs trust. I will walk very small groups.

Please could you tell me what you think of my name ideas, or suggest the type of name that appeals to you as a dog owner.

I like pp's suggestion of Tall Tails.

If you want to be found easily in google I'd go for "location" dog walking.

Leeds Dog Walking Service
Sherwood Forest Dog Walking
Liverpool Dog Walking
Manchester Dog Walks

Etc

I tend to find names that spell out exactly what you do more helpful when searching on the internet.

It's boring but dog walking services says exactly what you do. Or as a PP mentioned have location in your name.

I do use dog walkers/daycare etc and if the name is too gimmicky it can put me off.

Thanks wildflower and bitey. Maybe I'm trying too hard to come up with something clever and and should stick to my name or location.

I worry that those options are a bit boring, or not very memorable. But I do very much want to come across as reliable, trustworthy and experienced. I am going to be taking care of people's precious animals and I want a name that suggests a solid, trustworthy service.

Will come back when I have more time.
For the moment - "Take the Lead". "In the Lead".

I understand not wanting a boring name but if you do go with a 'play on words' type of name then for me absolutely everything else needs to be spot on, professional and clear in terms of your website, leaflets etc otherwise I would put you down the bottom of the list if I was looking for a new walker.

Remember most people would use the search terms 'dog walker in x location' because that's what they want to find and see.

Another one here who avoids gimmicky named businesses, especially for stuff like this (Fish and Chip shops are an exception).

Whenever I see branded dog walkers around here I think they are more likely to be people cashing in on dog walking than people who genuinely love dogs. That is probably very unfair and narrow minded of me, but is how I think.

In all honesty, I cannot think what my walker's business name actually is. I just know here by her name.

I was thinking about this some more and let's say I needed some roof tiles repairing and google came up with 'Oxford roofing repairs' and 'no more leaks' ponders if they are actual company names I wonder how many people would really click on the latter over the former.

Hmm that's really helpful Biteyshark and Missbattenburg thank you. Maybe I should stop trying to be clever and go with something simple incorporating my name and or location.

I've tired to research how best use my location but there's just so much information out there, and much of it seems to just be trying to sell me their services.

I live in a big village and would hope to get most business from this and the surrounding villages. But I'm not sure wether to use my specific village name, or the name of the town that we are in, or the more general region name which has quite classy outdoor connotations. Sorry I'm rambling now!

I think you might want to decide first on your catchment area. Remember driving time is dead time so you won't want to be travelling long distances in lots of directions to pick up dogs. This may help you decide what to use if you go for a location name.

For example I will click on a business which has a local surrounding town name and then will look for information which says covers x areas.

Target audience matters here. No point in having a generic classy outdoor name which will appeal to 'outsiders' when your target audience is dog owners in your local town who know the area very well.
