I've gone back about 10 pages but no recent threads, so I'll start one myself. My Muck Boots have sprung a leak Sad. I chose them a few years ago following advice on here. They have been wonderfully warm and comfortable, but always had a couple of downsides - I can't drive in them, at least not in my favourite dog car - and they aren't particularly 'grippy', and since I do most of my dog walking off lead in deep countryside on pretty uneven ground that's quite an issue. Any thoughts/advice/suggestions oh wise fellow muddy hilly place dog walkers?

I love my chameaus (rubber, neoprene) but don't bother with the full zip ones... The zips usually end up packing up! Mine are about 10 years old now.. Had Aigles (neoprene) before that which I liked too.

I've had my Aigle Parcours vario 2 for 3 and a bit years and done 2 dog walks a day most days in them (just change to walking shoes if it's very hot).
They've been a revelation - comfy, hard wearing, tremendous sole, wide enough for my (wide) feet and expansion in the calf area. Also, my feet weren't cold even at minus temperatures.

Thanks everyone. I went to our local country store and had a lovely time trying on lots of different boots. I found the Aigle Parcours rather difficult to 'toe' off so regretfully rejected them. The Le Chameaus ticked all the boxes except driving - the staff happily let me go back to the car park to test this!

I was very very taken with the Ariat leather ones, but they were about £50 over the budget. I could probably have got them cheaper elsewhere but I don't like choosing in a local independent store then waltzing off to order online. Then one of the staff (who I went to school with) appeared, and told me she'd been using Kanyon leather boots for her own serious off-piste dog walking, and they were on offer. So I tried them on, they were just as lovely as the Ariats, and I've just come in from their first day at work. Fairly dry underfoot so can't comment yet on their waterproof qualities, but very very comfortable - I kept forgetting I had new boots on and every time I pulled up to start a dog walk I started to change into wellies on autopilot before realising I didn't have to. They've got a two year warranty, and I've spent £50 less than I'd budgeted.

Happy muddy walking everyone!
