New puppy

We brought our puppy home on Monday. He’s 10 weeks and was the last to leave his parents. Is it usual for new pups to be quite quiet? He eats his breakfast but picks a bit at his lunch and dinner. I get the sense he’s quite shy. He’s a lovely boy. He’s had a few toilet accidents but I don’t want him feeling overwhelmed.

Billypup was pretty quiet, she didn't bark for ages and even now not very often and she's 11 months.

Its still new and scary for him, lots of patience and calm puppy play time to build his confidence. Give it a month and you're thread will read 'puppy tearing around the house like a mad thing leaving destruction in his wake'

Just for clarification, that was supposed to be humerous. One of mine wouldn't shut up!

I suppose I’ve panicked. Thinking immediately something is wrong. We looked after a family member’s dog when they went abroad and he was quiet but found everything quite overwhelming and by the end was growling at us a lot. I worry we’re frightening him. But yes glad he’s quiet. Ironically my dh wasn’t (isn’t) keen and he’ll be wagging his tail at him when he gets home. I’m forgetting he’s a baby I suppose.

He's so adorable. Get him into a routine, play time, toilet time, nap time. Ours napped a lot the first week, its been exhausting for him and there's so many new things happening.

and Billypup has decided to bestow favourite human status on my DH, (and he wasn't the one who wanted her in the first place and doesn't deserve it)

How is he today OP is he settling a bit more

He’s a poochon (major embarrassment saying that). He’s okay. A few toilet accidents though we go out every half hour for 15 minutes. He’s got a bit of red tear staining so we need that checking and tonight with two of my kids (one with adhd) we are braving puppy classes. I will be that owner whose pup poos in class (I’m currently outside hoping he goes). He slept well last and he seems content. I just feel like an experienced first time parent.

That’s pretty much what it’s like to start with. Our one and only time to puppy class she waited until the very end then pooped don’t stress they’re used to it

Is he fully vaccinated? Eating ok? I’m wary of puppy classes. I don’t like the free for all they often turn int, bloody awful thing to teach your dog that it’s ok to rough and tumble with every dog he meets. If yours is quiet, he might be totally overwhelmed by that.

All dogs are on leads. They run puppy social where they’re all off leads but we won’t try that yet. He was shattered after his first and seems to be coming out of his shell a bit more now. Sleeping a lot and doesn’t seem to eat tons but I’m probably expecting him to eat loads and he’s quite small. He’s wagging his tail a lot especially at my dh who wasn’t sold on the idea of a puppy.
