I have a miniature daschund who is 15 months and a 10 month old black lab.

Since Lab has been house trained they have slept together downstairs. But recently she has started needing the toilet really early - we have been coming down to poo and wee on the floor. So I have returned her to sleeping in our bed - she wakes me up for the loo, so despite a broken night for me, all good.

Then this last few nights she has woken up retching - rapidly put her on the floor, where she pukes a bit of water. Take her out, back to bed. She doesn't puke at any other time and seems fine in herself. So now I have the choice of coming downstairs to poo and wee or having a vommer in my bed at night. Hmm

My lab moults like you wouldn't believe. I hoover every day and use a hair removal glove on the sofas and cushions every day. I usually wash the floor too.

Walking in the Winter omg! Have to wash the lab everytime! Have to wipe their feet every time they come in from the garden. If I go to work in the dark I can't poo pick, which means there is a danger they go in the garden, track through their own poo and bring it inside!! Arrgh!

I love them I do, but omg they are so much work. If I could do it again I would stick with one (the daxie). I write this in the knowledge my lab will never read it...

Thanks for the vent.

Trying to think positively...could the vomit be a one-off thing? Or is that clinging to straws?

I feel your pain. I got my (sole) dog 5 months after having my lovely new kitchen sorted. And I love the dog, I really do. But the mess, and the mud, and the marks from shaking muddy water over the walls, and as she;'s in season the blood on the floor do get me down from time to time. I think if I had broken nights on top, I'd need Wine and Cake!

I love my dogs too, but I will never, ever make the mistake of having two big dogs at the same time again. Hard, hard work:(

The only advice I have is to fence off a patio area outside the backdoor so the dogs don’t get muddy in the garden and with an outside light/ torch poo is easy to pick up at all times of the day/ night . Also invest in equafleece onesies for walks that way you only have to dry off the bottoms of the legs , it’s brilliant .

floral thanks have seen those fleeces. The dogs look ridiculous but hey if it works!!

But I dispute picking poo up in the dark even with a torch is easy. I tend to find it with my feet first.

I would agree that the vomits are probably due to hunger. At 10 months he'll be going through a teenage phase and probably needing a bit more food than before. Mine did it a few times at 9-10 months old and we found an extra chew/biscuit at bedtime solved it.

Similarly for the toilet mine went through a phase at that age of needing the toilet in the night despite having slept through for the previous 4 months or so! We just took him out (he sleeps in with us) silently and returned him to bed. It stopped after a few nights.

But two puppies at the same time - gosh, you're brave! One is bad enough Grin

I would definitely try the snack before bedtime .My dog always puked if she didn't get something at night

Thanks adaline but it is the 15 month old puking.
